"Capped!" On the morning of April 17, the builders couldn't hold back the joy in their hearts and shouted to celebrate the successful capping of the No. 3 pier tower of the Jialing River Bridge of the Chengnan Expressway expansion project, and took a group photo.

At the construction site, the No. 3 pier tower of the Jialing River Bridge of the Chengnan Expressway Expansion Project stands tall on the Jialing River, which is particularly spectacular under the blue sky and white clouds. The builders are working hard to speed up the construction progress of the project.

"The first main pier tower was successfully capped, marking that the construction of the bridge has fully entered the main girder construction stage. According to the person in charge of the site, the height of the two main pier towers of the bridge is more than 116 meters, and the main tower adopts the shape of a vase-shaped tower, with a total of 21 sections. At present, the successful capping is the main pier tower close to Gaoping District, and the main pier tower near Jialing District is also stepping up construction.

It is understood that the Jialing River Bridge of the Chengnan Expressway Expansion Project is a 2,309-meter-long, semi-floating system symmetrical double-tower double-cable-faced concrete cable-stayed bridge. The main tower of the bridge adopts the shape of the vase-shaped cable tower, and the construction party overcomes the problems of difficult underwater foundation construction, unique cross-sectional modeling, and difficult construction accuracy control, and advances the inverted construction period at full speed, and successfully realizes the capping of the No. 3 cable tower of the first main pier, which lays a solid foundation for the opening of the Chengnan Expressway expansion project on schedule.

The Chengnan Expressway expansion project will start in September 2022 and is expected to be completed and opened to traffic in 2025. The main line section of the project starts from the east side of Gaoping District, Nanchong City, and ends at the Luosiba hub of Chengdu Ring Expressway, with a total length of 215.697 kilometers. Up to now, 58% of the main line subgrade has been completed, 14% of the pavement has been completed, and 53% of the bridge and culvert tunnel project has been completed. After the expansion and transformation, it will become a two-way eight-lane passage connecting the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, which will further stimulate the economic development vitality of the Chengdu-Chongqing region, improve the road traffic capacity and level between Chengdu and Chongqing, optimize the spatial structure of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, and improve the conditions for the in-depth development of the regional economy.

It is reported that the Chengnan Expressway is a part of the national "ten vertical and ten horizontal" comprehensive transportation channel six lines "along the Yangtze River Transportation Channel", is an important section of the national highway network east-west horizontal line G42 Shanghai-Rong Expressway, and is also an important transportation channel for Sichuan Province to open to the east, integrate into the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and connect the Yangtze River Delta.
