Man must learn to rely on himself
On that stormy night, my father and I sat in the car as we drove slowly on the slippery road, his eyes nervous and focused.
"Dad, what if the car breaks down?" I asked, a little worried, unsettling the rainstorm in front of me.
He glanced at me lightly, and his voice was calm and firm: "Then cultivate it yourself." People have to learn to rely on themselves, and not always someone will come to help. ”
That night, our car literally broke down halfway through. The father took out his toolbox and was busy outside the car in the rain. I sat in the car, watching him through the foggy window, and mixed emotions welled up in my heart. This is another lesson he taught me – self-reliance.
When I got home, I was in bed and couldn't sleep. My father's words echoed in my head: "Man must learn to rely on himself." "I started to reflect on my life and realized that I was still dependent on my parents in many ways. Yes, I am already a college student, but I always have a habit of seeking help from my parents when faced with difficulties and challenges.
The next day, I decided to start changing. I signed up for a car repair course. Every weekend, I spend a few hours learning about basic repairs and maintenance of cars. I think it's not just about learning the skills of car repair, it's also about exercising the ability to solve problems independently.
A few months later, I met a classmate's car breaking down on the road. Looking at his helpless expression, I didn't hesitate to pull out my toolbox. "Let me try. I said. In the next half hour, I managed to solve the problem with what I had learned. When the car restarted, my classmates looked at me gratefully, and I felt a sense of accomplishment that I had never felt before.
At that moment, I deeply realized the meaning of my father's words "learn to rely on yourself". It's not just the ability to solve practical problems, it's an attitude to life. Since then, I've started experimenting with more independent living skills, such as cooking, financial management, etc. With each of them, I feel more mature and more capable of facing life's challenges.
In my studies and life, I have gradually become more confident and independent. I know there will be setbacks and failures along the way, but these are the necessary ways to grow. Through these experiences, I learned to rely not only on others, but more importantly on my own strength.
Now, whenever I am challenged, I remind myself that you have to learn to rely on yourself. This phrase has become the motto of my life, and it constantly inspires me to be a stronger person.
