01

The origin of Chugu Temple

When the temple was first built, it was just a hut built by a master of the Drukpa Gagyu sect that could accommodate one or two monks to stay, rest and practice. Later, the monks who inherited the master's last wish expanded it into a four-pillar hall, and then gradually expanded it into a sutra hall.

When the 7th Dalai Lama Kelsang Gyatso was in power, the bhikkhu Repo of the Puran Dzongxian Berlin Monastery and the lord of the sacred mountain of the Drubpa Gyalju sect were arguing over the ownership of the Chugu Monastery and the farmland and pastures it owned. As a result, Poro Nai Solangdobuje personally intervened and ordered the Zhuba Naju faction to manage the Zhongzhepu Monastery located on the eastern side of the Shenshan Mountain, and the Chugu Monastery was subordinate to the Xian Berlin Monastery.

After the mediation was approved by both parties, the temple became a Gelugpa temple and was expanded into a large prayer hall with a total of 18 houses and 12 pillars. The main statue of the pure gold Vajra holding is the main one, as well as the three medicinal clay statues of Shakyamuni's master and apprentice. In addition to the previous Buddha statues, there are also statues of the god of the lake and the dragon king in the temple.

One lake, two snow-capped mountains

Mapan Yongcuo is endless, and Chugu Temple quietly guards the edge of the holy lake Mapan Yongcuo. The architecture of Chugu Temple is very simple, similar to the style of other temples, and stands out on the edge of the empty lake.

In Chugu Monastery, you can see the sacred mountain Kailash on the opposite side of the holy lake, when the weather is fine, it seems to be right in front of you, Kailash is like a snow-white pyramid, and the huge ice trough is like a Buddhist swastika.

To the south of Chugu Monastery is the Namunani Snow Mountain, which is far away from the sacred mountain Kailash.

There are a lot of Mani piles near Chugu Temple, after the wind and rain, the Mani piles have lost their original color, but they have added a bit of simplicity, in the sunset, glowing with warm red and yellow.

After the sun went down, a patch of gold was sprinkled on the surface of the lake, and the Chugu Temple was immersed in silence. The lake at night does not swell with waves like during the day, the wind is calm, only the prayer flags on the edge of the Chugu Temple hunt in the cold wind, mysterious and quiet.
