The Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science (JAC) is recruiting an associate editor (part-time). Looking for a passionate, knowledgeable and respected crop scientist with extensive experience in research areas such as crop physiology and climate change, the successful candidate will join the JAC editorial team to assist the Editor-in-Chief in co-responsibility for the scientific content published in the journal. It is hoped that the new editors will bring new perspectives to the journal, further enhance the influence of the journal, and promote the vigorous development of global agricultural research through the continuous upgrading of the journal. Wiley Publishing Group will continue to work closely with the editorial team to provide comprehensive support for the development of the journal.

We are inviting applications for the role of Associate Editor at the Journal of Agronomy and Crop Science (JAC).

We are looking for a knowledgeable and respected crop scientist with a strong research background in crop physiology and climate change. The successful candidate will join the editorial team responsible for the journal’s scientific content. They must demonstrate a clear vision to enhance the journal's impact, enabling it to thrive as agronomy research expands globally into the future.

The publisher provides full support to the editorial team with a professional in-house Editorial Office managing peer review from submission to final decision, a Research Integrity team to handle queries or concerns, and a Production team managing post-acceptance processes. There is a close partnership with Wiley's Publisher, focusing on strategic development.

Overview

We are seeking an individual who:

• Has strong academic credentials in crop physiology and climate change, with an established network of research contacts.

• Can effectively communicate with the Publisher, Editor-in-Chief, and Editorial Board, and advocate for JAC among reviewers, authors, and the scientific community.

• Is aware of trends in the subject and publishing sector and open to new ideas and initiatives.

• Is committed to supporting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility for the journals.

Key Responsibilities

In consultation with the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief:

• Support journal development, manuscript handling, and the peer review process in collaboration with the Editorial Board and Editorial Office.

• Strengthen the journal’s connections within Wiley’s transfer network in agriculture for the benefit of authors and reviewers.

• Maintain high-quality editorial policy and standards, ensuring research integrity.

• Expand JAC’s Special Issues by collaborating with the Editorial team, guest editors, and Editorial Office.

• Increase commissioning of additional reviews and content with the Features team, and encourage high-quality submissions.

• Monitor key performance measures with support from Wiley.
