In order to assist the poor fruit farmers in Huangfeng Town to sell mandarin oranges, relieve their economic pressure and promote their income. On April 11, 2024, under the guidance of the Pengshan District Civil Affairs Bureau, the Huangfeng Town Social Worker Station in Pengshan District, Meishan City, Sichuan Province, with the support of the Huangfeng Town People's Government and the help of the Pengshan District Social Work Station, organized a number of local volunteers to carry out the fourth phase of the theme activity of "Orange Hands and Orange Light Helping Farmers" for a difficult fruit farmer in the jurisdiction.
From March to April every year, it is the harvest season of mandarin oranges, and although it has a sweet taste, due to various reasons such as small size and kernels in the pulp, the amount of planting in this production area is relatively small compared to Ehime oranges and Harumi citrus, and there are fewer merchants who come to buy them. A difficult fruit farmer in the jurisdiction planted about 20 adult mandarin trees, but this year's bumper yield is facing difficulties in sales. In order to solve the urgent need, the social worker station of Huangfeng Town organized more than 10 local volunteers to form a group of professional citrus picking teams with the help of the Pengshan District Social Work Station. And negotiate with the difficult fruit farmers about the specific time of picking, and come to the fruit farmer's fertile orange field. The red fruits hang from the branches, carrying the harvest of a year's hard work. Everyone worked together, picking, picking, bagging, and getting on the car, and the assembly-line fruit field work made the scene lively. It wasn't until dusk fell that I finally picked all the heavy fruit and loaded it onto the cart. A total of 1,518 pounds, when the social worker handed over the cash to the grandfather of the difficult fruit farmer, a bright smile spread all over his cheeks.
Subsequently, the Huangfeng Town Social Worker Station linked up with the truck driver and safely transported a full car of mandarin oranges to the beautiful five lakes and seas, the site of the Social Work Week, early in the morning of April 13, adding infinite sweetness to this activity.
The hard work of "orange" solves the urgent needs of difficult fruit farmers and warms the inner world of the poor people. This assisted sales activity to sell 1,518 catties of mandarin oranges for the family, equivalent to 4,554 yuan. It solved the family's mandarin sales problem and enhanced the planting confidence, sense of gain and happiness of fruit farmers.
