introduction

The International Society of Psychiatric Genetics (ISPG) will hold the World Congress of Psychogenetics (WCPG) in Singapore from 15 to 19 October 2024. These are exciting times for psychiatric genetics. With unprecedented data availability, research is shifting from genetic identification to understanding the mechanisms of mental illness, rethinking the classification of mental illness and envisioning new interventions.

WCPG is the top international scientific conference for research in psychiatric genetics and related fields. Leading experts in the fields of genetics, neuroscience, and psychiatry from around the world will attend.

The theme of this year's WCPG is "Psychogenetics in a Pluralistic World". This theme underscores the broad prospects of working to understand psychogenetics research in diverse populations and cultural contexts, supporting research excellence around the world and ensuring that psychogenetics research results benefit everyone.

Organizational structure

The International Society of Psychiatric Genetics (ISPG), founded in 1992, currently has 1118 members in 40+ countries. Members include psychiatrists, researchers, psychiatric geneticists, professors, genetic counselors, chief scientific officers, scientists, doctoral students, analysts, clinicians, physicians, and executive directors. The International Society of Psychiatric Genetics is a diverse global society dedicated to promoting and translating research in psychiatric genetics to improve mental health through collaboration, exchange, and education.

Psychogenetics in a Diverse World: The 2024 International Congress on Psychogenetics (ISPG) invites you to participate

He Lin, Honorary Dean of the Bio-X Research Institute of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Chair Professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Academician of the World Academy of Sciences for Developing Countries (TWAS), Member of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, and Initiator of the Yangtze River Delta Genetic Counseling and Diagnosis and Treatment Network, has been committed to the study of the genetic mechanism and pathogenesis of human diseases, and the promotion and application of genetic counseling. He took the lead in cracking the century-old mystery of the genetic community, revealed the pathogenic mechanism of the first Mendelian autosomal genetic disease type A-1 brachydactyly, discovered the world's first rare permanent tooth loss genetic disease named after the Chinese surname "He-Zhao defect", and was at the forefront of a series of achievements in the field of genetics of mental diseases. In 2001, the world's largest sample bank of psychiatric and neurological diseases was established. Academician He Lin put an end to the embarrassing situation that China, as a major country in genetic resources, did not discover and name genetic diseases on its own.

Academician He Lin has won the following awards: the second prize of the National Natural Science Award twice, the first prize of the Ministry of Education and the Shanghai Municipality several times, the Shanghai Science and Technology Meritorious Hero Award (the highest academic honor award in Shanghai), the Tan Jiazhen Life Science Achievement Award, the Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award, the "Outstanding Achievement Award" of the Chinese Genetics Society, the Biology Award of the Third World Academy of Sciences, the "Outstanding Investigator" Award of the National Schizophrenia and Depression Research Alliance (NARSAD), and the "Outstanding Education Award" of the Chinese Genetics Society of America , Shanghai Science and Technology Elite, Hong Kong "Qiushi" Outstanding Youth, National Outstanding Young Person, Changjiang Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, "Ruiyuan Science and Technology Award" of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Academician He Lin's work has greatly promoted the interdisciplinary research of life sciences and other disciplines, and has made important contributions to the development of genetics in mainland China and the world.
