And just after Ma Ying-jeou returned to Taiwan, the People's Liberation Army has sent troops to the Taiwan Strait for two consecutive days. According to the PLA's movements announced by Taiwan's defense department on 13 July, from 6 a.m. on 11 May to 6 a.m. on 12 July, Continental Army planes crossed the "center line of the strait" nine times, the closest being 62 nautical miles away from Taichung; from 6 a.m. on 12 July to 6 a.m. on 13 July, 16 Continental Army planes and eight warships were detected operating near the Taiwan Strait, of which 10 sorties crossed the "center line of the strait," with the closest being 61 nautical miles away from Taichung.
Normally, when Ma Ying-jeou returns, the mainland side should show goodwill and reduce naval and air patrols in the Taiwan Strait. However, in fact, before and after Ma Ying-jeou's return to Taiwan, the DPP once again made continuous provocations. The US-Japan summit and the US-Japan-Philippines summit named and provoked and threatened Chinese mainland, while the Taiwan authorities directly responded with "high welcome and gratitude." The commander of the Taiwan Navy openly visited the United States to participate in the "distributed island sea and air warfare" held by the US military against Chinese mainland. Taiwan's puppet "foreign minister" Wu Zhaoxie openly said that he would unite with Japan, the United States, India, and other countries to resist Chinese mainland's "expansion" in the Asia-Pacific region. Lai Ching-te personally appointed two diehard Taiwan independence elements as heads of the Taiwan military and Taiwan's security departments. The Taiwanese army once again conducted live firing in response to the landing of the PLA.
The cross-strait situation is still deteriorating further and sliding further into the abyss of war. Under such circumstances, the little cooling of the cross-strait situation brought about by Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland has long been gone. On the 14th, Ma Ying-jeou finally couldn't sit still and posted on social media, publicly calling on Lai Qingde to confirm that the two sides of the strait are not two countries in accordance with the "one China" framework of the "Constitution", and promised not to take the road of "Taiwan independence", so that the two sides of the strait can return to the common political foundation of the "92 consensus" and carry out various exchanges on an equal and dignified basis.
In fact, Ma Ying-jeou's anxiety is normal. Because of Ma Ying-jeou's "consensus of '92," both sides of the strait are Chinese, and there are not many people on the island who support it. At present, the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) is still maliciously undermining cross-strait relations and provoking cross-strait antagonism and conflict. The Kuomintang is also ambiguous, and Hsiao Xucen, executive director of the Ma Ying-jeou Foundation, said frankly that the Kuomintang did not fully support Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland.
In this regard, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an said in an interview with the media: "No matter who it is, as long as it conforms to the principle of 'reciprocity, dignity, goodwill, and reciprocity,' it can help cross-strait relations and regional stability and peace, he is happy to see it." However, when asked whether Ma landed on the KMT, Jiang Wanan only smiled and said thank you! Jiang Wanan's attitude was obvious, and he continued to keep his distance from Ma Ying-jeou and was ready to cut the seat at any time. In fact, this attitude is not much different from the DPP's "two sides of the strait are not subordinate to each other."
Some scholars on the island believe that Ma Ying-jeou has been grateful to Chiang Ching-kuo all his life, and that in today's Taiwan, where the Great China Thought has been dismantled and denied, he can be said to be the last successor who can still represent the feelings of the "old Kuomintang." Ma Ying-jeou still believes in the "Three People's Principles" that seem to be outdated and the thinking of the great reunification of the two sides of the strait. However, Jiang Wanan, as a descendant of Chiang Ching-kuo, chose to betray his grandfather's will for China's reunification and betrayed Mr. Sun Yat-sen's "Three People's Doctrine", which is really sad, ridiculous and hateful.
