He Zhizhang had a high status among the poets of the Tang Dynasty, but his works that have been circulated in the world are very rare, the most famous of which is "The Book of Returning to the Hometown". Some people see childlike fun in the poem, and some people read the vicissitudes of the world, but the secret of this poem that can be passed down through the ages is more than that. Below, let's walk into the journey of Tang poetry's exploration. He Zhizhang resigned from Tianbao for three years (744), and He Zhizhang, who was the official to the secretary and supervisor, handed over his resignation to Tang Xuanzong. He Zhizhang was 86 years old at the time, and he could have retired a long time ago, but the reason written on his resignation was not to return to his hometown, resign due to illness, and so on, but the word "cultivation." To today's people, it would seem far-fetched to resign because of cultivation, but in the eyes of the ancients, it was not a maverick and unconventional behavior. On the contrary, those who aspire to practice will win people's respect. Especially in the climax period of cultivation in the Tang Dynasty. At that time, there were countless people who practiced Buddhism and Taoism, from emperors and generals to ordinary people. Therefore, He Zhizhang's move won the support of Tang Xuanzong, and specially summoned hundreds of officials to practice for He Zhizhang at the east gate of the capital, Changle Slope, so that He could enjoy all the glory. At the practice banquet, Tang Xuanzong also wrote a farewell poem for He Zhizhang: "Sending He to the Secret Supervisor to Return to the Hui Ji Poem" entered the Tao during the posthumous period, and he quit the old man and smoked a hairpin. Don't hesitate to be virtuous, it is like a noble heart. The secret of the world is scattered. Unique green door canton, the heroes are not deep. Although Tang Xuanzong was reluctant to be a guest of this temperamental prince, he also understood that He Zhizhang was to get the cultivation path taught by a real person, so he was not allowed to stay. In this regard, Li Bai also told the truth: "The true secret has been obtained since the Mao family, and Enbo Ning blocked the return of the cave." He Zhizhang received the true recipe for cultivation from a real person, and even if he was deeply favored by the emperor, he could not stop his determination to cultivate. He Zhizhang attained enlightenmentSo, how did He Zhizhang attain enlightenment? The "Taiping Guangji" records the original circumstances of the incident. He Zhizhang lives in Xuanpingfang, Xijing. There was an old man who lived across the street from his house, and he often rode in and out on a donkey. After five or six years of this, the old man's complexion and clothes were still the same, and He Zhizhang expected that he was an extraordinary person, so he often visited him. Due to the increase in exchanges, He Zhizhang became more and more respectful to the old man, and his speech gradually deepened. During the conversation, He Zhizhang learned that the old man was good at cultivating the art of alchemy, so he wanted to be the old man's disciple. Later, He Zhizhang and his wife presented a treasure bead that had been treasured for many years to the old man and asked the old man to teach him the Tao. After the old man took the pearl, he gave it to the boy and asked him to go to the market to buy cakes. The boy exchanged the pearl for more than 30 cakes, and used the cakes to invite He Zhizhang. He Zhizhang thought to himself, the jewel was specially given to the old man, but the old man used it so lightly, and he was very unhappy. The old man said, "The Tao can only be learned, so how can we strive for it? If we don't spare our possessions, we can't attain the Tao." You should go deep into the mountains and poor valleys and practice diligently and dedicatedly, because it is difficult to attain enlightenment by living in the middle of the city. He Zhizhang suddenly realized when he heard this, thanked the old man and left. After a few days, the old man was gone. He Zhizhang then asked to resign from his official position and return to his hometown. There is another saying in the New Tang Dynasty, "At the beginning of Tianbao, illness, sleepwalking in the emperor's residence, a few days of sleep, but please be a Taoist priest, return to the village, edict it, and live in the house for the view of the thousand autumns." He Zhizhang had a big dream after his illness, visited the residence of the Emperor of Heaven in the dream, and after waking up, he asked Xuanzong to become a Taoist priest. No matter what you say, it proves that He Zhizhang's heart to the Tao is very firm. This kind of enlightenment is not achieved overnight, but is a process of gradual improvement through long-term cultivation. In fact, in He Zhizhang's later years, his cultivation realm was already very high, and clues could be found from the pile of historical papers. For thousands of years, He Zhizhang and Li Bai's year-old friendship is often enjoyed, when they first met, He Zhizhang for Li Bai "to solve the golden turtle for wine", when He Zhizhang read the poems written by Li Bai, praised Li Bai is "an immortal". You must know that for He Zhizhang, Li Bai at that time was just a fledgling offspring. As the saying goes, heroes see the same thing, and Sima Chengzhen, a famous Taoist at that time, also greatly appreciated the young Li Bai, saying that Li Bai "has the bones of the fairy wind and can be compared with the eight extremes of iQue". When this real person was eighty-nine-year-old immortal, he "disappeared, like a cicada saying that he was shedding" ("The Legend of the Continuation of the Immortals"), and it can be seen that he is also a master of Taoism. He Zhizhang and Sima Chengzhen's evaluation of Li Bai was by no means polite and flattering, but the real situation seen at a fairly high level. Shi Zai He Zhizhang "The evening festival is especially born, playing in the lane, calling himself 'Siming Maniac' and 'Secretary and Outer Supervisor'. Every drunk, the resignation, the pen does not stop writing, the saltiness is considerable, and it has not been published. Good grass, good deeds with a pen to study from it, the meaning is comfortable, do not refuse, but the paper is only ten numbers, the world is a treasure. He Zhizhang was able to write very good articles when he was drunk, and this puzzling phenomenon is closely related to cultivation. There are also similar phenomena such as Wang Xizhi's drunken writing of "Orchid Pavilion Preface", Li Bai's "Hundred Poems of Fighting Wine" and so on. He Zhizhang not only has a profound Taoism, but even has special functions. Du Fu bluntly said that He Zhizhang, like Li Bai, is a "wine fairy". When he got drunk, he "fell asleep in the bottom of the well." ("Song of the Eight Immortals in Drinking") should note that He Zhizhang did not sleep on the surface of the water, but slept peacefully under the water, which is by no means an ordinary skill, but a special function. You must know that there are many Taoist cultivators who talk about sleeping, and the Taoist real person Chen Tuan has a profound "sleeping skill", and he can often sleep for several months. Some cultivators can sleep in the ice and snow, but He Zhizhang's "underwater sleep" seems to have mastered the "water avoidance trick" mentioned in the ancient books, which is amazing. When I learned so much about He Zhizhang, when I looked back and read this "Returning to My Hometown Doll Book", I would have a different experience. When he left home, he returned to his hometown, and his hometown accent did not change, and his sideburns declined. When the children don't know each other, they smile and ask where the guests are from. Cultivation is a process of improving one's realm and recovering one's innate true self, so Taoists call cultivation returning to the truth, returning to the basics, and so on. Therefore, the "Hui" in the poem is a return, which means cultivation. "Young" left home, which means that he has long left his real home - the fairy world. "The eldest return", tossing and turning in the world, going through calamities in the red dust, I don't know how many years have passed, and now I finally set foot on the way home to return to the basics. "Xiangyin" is the voice of the fairy world, which is not only the call from the fairy world, but also the original heart of the cultivator. The local sound has not changed, although it has been reincarnated in the filthy world, and now it is old and decrepit, but the original intention of cultivation has never changed. "Children don't know each other when they see each other", the children here have an innocent, innocent and kind nature. If you think of the child in the poem as a Taoist child, he deliberately appeared here because he received the teacher's order. Daotong didn't know He Zhizhang on the surface, but he understood it very well in his heart, and he asked knowingly: Where did you come from? A laughing word makes the whole poem more charming, why does Daotong laugh? Because he is happy, he is happy that He Zhizhang is getting closer and closer to cultivation. Of course, this is convenient for the reader to understand, but in fact, the way cultivators look at things is different from ordinary people, and often ordinary things may be intentional enlightenment from high-level beings. And the child's question made the poet think of all kinds of thoughts. Where did it come from? From Vanity Fair, from the red dust. He Zhizhang's abandonment of official positions and entry into the Tao is by no means a move to sensationalize and sell fame, nor is it a loss because of the emperor's neglect, but a real manifestation of letting go of the fame and fortune that is most difficult for ordinary people to give up. Among them, it is impossible for others to imagine how to go through the cultivation of the heart and bones, and how to break through the obstacles and sufferings of the human heart. The sentence "Smile and ask where the guest comes from" has become a thousand-year-old blank space that He Zhizhang has not explained. Interestingly, Li Bai wrote in a poem reminiscing about He Zhizhang, "The madman returns to Siming, and the mountain vagina welcomes him." It seems that in reality, there is indeed another cultivator who washes the dust for He Zhizhang, which is worth playing. If Li Bai is regarded as a cultivator and reads the poem "Silent Night Thoughts" that has been passed down through the ages, does the meaning of it also become different? Only the mirror lake in front of the door, the spring breeze does not change the old waves. The words of parting from the hometown have the same meaning as the previous one, and they all lament the long years of leaving the fairy town. And in recent times, personnel consumption, people's affairs, people's obsession, fame, fortune, and favors have been let go a lot. Elimination is a process of eliminating people's hearts and grinding away attachments. The water of the mirror lake in front of the door refers to the way of cultivation and the heart of cultivation. The spring breeze does not change the old waves, and the spring breeze refers to the fame, fortune, persistence and desire in personnel and does not change my heart to the Tao and my will to return to the truth. Or another solution can be made: personnel are changeable, and the only thing that remains unchanged is the Great Dao, and sincere cultivation can never be "consumed". For thousands of years, when people read these two poems, they focused on understanding the surface of the poems and studying the poet's writing style and skills. As everyone knows, if you look at it from the perspective of cultivation, you will find a broader world.
