Russian media: The vanguard of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion has arrived at the front line in eastern Ukraine

Previously, French President Emmanuel Macron has repeatedly said that he "does not rule out" the intention of sending troops directly to Ukraine. Earlier, some people in Russia also said that some French mercenaries who have appeared in Ukraine to participate in the war "in their personal name" are actually very likely to be active personnel of the French army. However, friends with a little military knowledge know that with the current strength of the French army, it is not capable of directly confronting Russia on a large-scale conventional battlefield. Therefore, many people previously thought that Macron was just "bluffing". But what is quite surprising is that a recent news from Ross seems to have changed everyone's previous thinking.

On April 12, according to the TG channel of the influential Russian military media "Military Chronicle", the first batch of 100 people of the 3rd Infantry Regiment of the French Foreign Legion has arrived at the station of the 54th Ukrainian Mechanized Brigade on the front line in Slavyansk, Ukraine. It is said that the first batch of 100 French troops are basically French artillery technicians, and these people will provide long-range artillery support for the Ukrainian troops who are scorching with the Russian army in Chasov Yar.

According to Ukrainian sources, the 100 French troops did not come "empty-handed", but carried the "Caesar" self-propelled guns developed by France. This self-propelled artillery is a relatively advanced truck gun developed by France, with a range of up to 42~50 kilometers when using extended-range ammunition, and has quite strong mobility, which is enough to achieve "quick fight and quick withdrawal". The Ukrainian side believes that this kind of artillery, equipped with the technicians of the French army, can provide effective long-range fire support to the Ukrainian army in Chasov Yar.

However, although this kind of French artillery is quite remarkable in terms of performance, it is very likely that this French artillery will not play much role in the case that the Russian army has obtained air supremacy. Because now Chasov Yar and its vicinity have become the "exercise ground" of the Russian Aerospace Forces, once the French army "shows up", it will inevitably be attacked by the overwhelming direct military strikes of the Russian fighter units.

Outside analysts believe that these 100 French troops are likely to be used only to test Russia's reaction, and once the Russian army does not have much countermeasures, the follow-up troops are likely to follow. Therefore, the most important thing Russia should do now is to eliminate these vanguard forces as soon as possible, so that NATO can send troops in the bud from the beginning.
