The first new line in Shanghai's regional railway network
With a total length of 68.6 kilometers and passing through the three administrative districts of Minhang, Xuhui and Pudong New Area, the airport liaison line is one of the first 11 municipal railway demonstration lines identified in the National Development and Reform Commission's "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Urban (Suburban) Railways", and is the first new line in Shanghai's regional railway network. The construction of this major transportation project and livelihood project started on June 28, 2019, marking a new stage of construction of Shanghai's rail transit network.
The Airport Link Line is Shanghai's first municipal railway reserved for interconnection with the National Railway, and the Hongqiao Station to Pudong Airport Station is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024. There are 9 stations on the whole line of the airport liaison line, Huajing Station is located on the south side of the intersection of Huazhan Road and Pingchi Road, Meilong Town, Minhang District, which is a four-storey underground side station, with 2 entrances and exits, with the transfer conditions of Metro Line 15 and Line 19 under construction, with a total length of about 563 meters and the deepest excavation of the foundation pit of about 44 meters.

Sanlin South Station is located in the southwest of the intersection of S20 Outer Ring Expressway and Puxing Highway in Pudong New Area, along the S20 Outer Ring Expressway in an east-west direction, is a four-storey underground double-island four-line station, with 12 entrances and exits, with the conditions for interchange with Line 19 under construction, with a total length of about 667.5 meters and a total construction area of 90,474 square meters.
The station is the largest station of the airport liaison line and one of the largest station projects under construction in Shanghai.

The first oversized diameter shield machine in the airport liaison line
The "Qiyue" shield machine was launched from the working shaft of Meifu Road on April 18, 2021, and in the nearly 10 months of construction, it crossed the 220 thousand volt high-voltage iron tower, raw water pipe, Hongmei South Road viaduct and ground bridge, rail transit line 15 and other important structures at close range, and excavated 255 rings (510 meters) in a single month, setting the fastest domestic record of super-large diameter "single-hole hoisting and rail transportation", and finally successfully completed the receiving work at Huajing Station.
In the design process, the "Qiyue" shield machine has independently developed five core patented technologies: "atmospheric pressure tool change technology for cutting system", "high-pressure sealing technology for drive system", "hydraulic control technology for reconfigurable partitions of propulsion system", "multi-means ground settlement control technology" and "trackless frame technology for auxiliary system", so that the "Qiyue" shield machine has technical advantages such as reliable cutting, high-pressure sealing, attitude stability, risk protection, and efficient transportation, and escorts the construction of major engineering projects in the city.
The 9-meter EPB Shield was used for the first time in Shanghai
Bid 12 of the airport liaison line uses four 9-meter EPB shield machines for tunneling construction, which is the first time that this type of shield machine has been put into use in Shanghai, and there is no precedent for reference in relevant construction experience and propulsion parameters. To this end, the project team concentrated the technical backbone, combined with the actual situation on site, set a reasonable trial propulsion section, corrected and adjusted the parameters of the trial propulsion section in time with the actual propulsion situation, and finally integrated a set of 9-meter shield construction parameters, which provided construction experience for the subsequent use of this level of shield machine in Shanghai.

"Zhiyu" is also put into the construction of the airport liaison line "artifact", its biggest highlight is intelligence, is the first domestic can realize the automatic excavation of the shield machine "intelligent cruise shield".
Compared with the traditional shield, the "Zhiyu" does not need manual participation in the tunneling process - it can quickly judge its own state and recognize the surrounding environment on the basis of accurate perception of construction information, automatically issue operation instructions to the shield machine, and control the shield to complete the tunnel tunneling, so as to effectively improve the construction quality and efficiency, and reduce the failure of mechanical equipment caused by human factors.

For the first time, 3-minute automatic turnback was realized
The airport liaison line adopts CTCS2+ATO signal system, which can meet the needs of line network and public transportation operation. In addition, the automatic turnback function, which is the first of its kind in the city sector, will greatly improve transportation efficiency.
On December 1, 2023, the field test of the Shanghai Regional Railway Airport Liaison Line was successfully completed in Changchun. During the whole test process, the system ran stably, and the ATO automatic switchback could meet the requirements of the 3-minute operation interval of the whole line, marking a major technological breakthrough and innovation in realizing the high-density operation of public transportation.
