Today (April 13), the first anniversary of the opening of the international passenger train of the China-Laos Railway, a total of 700,000 passengers have been sent, including 180,000 cross-border passengers from 87 countries and regions.
Shi Liang, Deputy Director of the Passenger Transport Department of the Kunming Bureau of the National Railway: Since the beginning of this year, the number of cross-border seats for international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway has increased from 300 to 350, and two stops have been added in Yuxi, China, and Mengsai, Laos, and the number of stops has increased from 8 to 10 stations throughout the whole process.
Over the past year, the occupancy rate of international passenger trains on the China-Laos Railway has maintained a high level, which has ignited the tourism industry in Xishuangbanna, Luang Prabang and other cities, and also promoted people-to-people exchanges and economic and trade cooperation between China and Laos. Beijing, Harbin, Shenyang and other cities have adopted the new model of "domestic tourist special train + international passenger train", and have successively organized cross-border tour groups from China and Laos to Laos, which has also further expanded the radiation scope of international passenger trains.
