Recently, Guangzhou Customs seized a passenger illegally carrying 333 beetles into the country through the airport and port passenger inspection channel of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport.
When the customs officer of Guangzhou Baiyun Airport under Guangzhou Customs supervised an inbound flight, he found that the image of a passenger's luggage passing through the plane was abnormal, and the image showed a large number of objects with sharp horns in the baggage, which were suspected to be beetles. After opening the box and inspecting the passenger's luggage, a number of cartons of different sizes were found, each of which contained multiple beetles, some of which showed signs of activity.
After being sent to a professional institution for identification, it was confirmed that the batch of beetles included 13 species, including the Atlas South Sea rhino beetle, the orange-backed forked stag beetle, the Poseidon rhinoceros beetle, and the God of War rhino beetle, among which the Atlas South Sea rhino beetle had the largest number of 175 beetles. These beetles have no natural distribution on the continent and are alien species.
