I'm a female university teacher, but I've opted for a gorgeous "lie flat" lifestyle. Although the salary is only the minimum wage, I don't think I have to work hard to live a leisurely life. The dean keeps motivating us, saying that "trying hard to evaluate professors is the best way to live a fulfilling life", but why are we still lying leisurely?
At the college assembly, the dean talked endlessly, but I leisurely sipped my tea, thinking about the beauty of life. Even if he instills us with chicken soup for the soul, we still maintain the style of "Ge You is lying". The rewards for those projects and papers may seem tempting, but are they worth the price for us?
Even with project rewards, in reality, it is difficult to get enough support and resources. Scientific research projects are like cutting leeks, a few crops a year, but it is difficult to get due rewards for hard work. Look at those colleagues who are desperately engaged in scientific research, lose a lot of hair, and neglect health for the sake of research, is this price worth it?
I decided to maintain a noble attitude and not to waste the country's resources in vain. Rather than being forced to participate in research projects, I prefer to concentrate on teaching. But are the students still as enthusiastic about knowledge as they were in the past? I used to give lectures with great enthusiasm, and the students' eyes sparkled with admiration. But now? Their attitude made me doubt my life.
I would like to tell you that the essence of a university is not in the luxurious buildings, but in the top teachers. If teachers choose to lie down, then how can students be refreshed? We need to re-examine the nature of education and our own responsibilities.
Maybe I should pick myself up again and try to set an example for the students. But do I still have the courage to do so in these challenging times?
