On April 10, 2024, VietJet Air officially announced the launch of a direct route from Xi'an, China to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam at the celebration of its 10th anniversary (2014-2024) in China. The ceremony was held during the 2024 China-Vietnam Trade and Investment Cooperation Promotion Forum in Shanghai.

As Vietnam's first and largest private aviation company, VietJet Air is based in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and has been actively participating in China's economic development by opening direct routes to important cities in China in recent years. Since the launch of its first international route from Ho Chi Minh City to Guangzhou 10 years ago, VietJet Air has launched routes from 6 major cities in Vietnam, including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat and Phu Quoc, to more than 50 cities in China, with up to 80 daily flights.

In addition, VietJet Air Thailand has also launched flights from Bangkok to Shanghai (Pudong Airport), Guangzhou (Baiyun Airport), Hangzhou (Xiaoshan Airport), Chengdu (Tianfu Airport), Beijing (Daxing Airport), and Bangkok and Phuket to Zhengzhou (Xinzheng Airport). At the same time, charter flights to China have also been opened, such as Ningbo, Haikou, Changsha and the above five routes.

The year 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of VietJet Air's entry into China. To celebrate this milestone, VietJet Air launched three consecutive routes to commemorate the 10th anniversary, including Ho Chi Minh City ⇋ Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City ⇋ Chengdu and Ho Chi Minh City ⇋ Xi'an. Among them, the Shanghai and Chengdu routes have been opened not long ago, and the Xi'an route will be opened on April 29.

The direct "Air Silk Road" route from Ho Chi Minh City to Xi'an will depart from Ho Chi Minh City at 20:05 (Hanoi time) every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, and land at Xi'an Xianyang International Airport at 1:30 a.m. (Beijing time) the next day, and return from Xi'an at 2:30 a.m. (Beijing time) every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 6:25 a.m. (Hanoi time).
