It was founded in June 1952, and its first director was Mr. Cao Yu, a famous dramatist in modern Chinese history, and Lan Tianye was the first batch of actors to work and perform in it.
"77 years of dedication to the stage, 76 years of glorious membership in the party" is Lan Tianye's high summary of his life, he loves this stage, and loves the party and the country.
Even though he has been retired for many years, Lan Tianye often goes to the Beijing People's Art Theater to watch the actors' rehearsals, and as long as someone comes to ask for advice, he will patiently guide him.
On May 4, 1927, Lan Tianye was born in the Wangjia Compound in Raoyang County, Hengshui City, Hebei Province.
Lan Tianye's original family is not bad, and he himself is also very talented in art, so in 1944, at the age of 17, Lan Tianye was admitted to Beiping Art College.
Although Lan Tianye majored in oil painting in school, he often went to other classes to skip classes, which formed an indissoluble bond with drama.
However, at that time, the war was raging, and the Chinese nation had reached a critical moment of life and death, and the general environment did not allow Lantian Ye to be completely intoxicated with artistic performance and creation.
As a result, Lantian Ye temporarily shelved his artistic ideals and resolutely contributed his own strength to his country.

On August 15, 1945, Japan announced its surrender, but the war in the country did not end, and the people in many places were still in dire straits.
In September of the same year, Lantian Ye officially became a member of the Communist Party of China and continued to start the next round of fighting.
In order to better carry out propaganda and mobilize the power of the student masses, Lan Tianye became a drama performer according to the instructions of his superiors, and used the form of drama to spread revolutionary ideas.
In this way, Lantian Ye mobilized the revolutionary enthusiasm of a large number of people and also developed a group of Communist Party members.
In addition, Lantian Ye also used his identity to collect a lot of useful information to cooperate with the work of the Peking students' democracy movement.
More and more pro-democracy movements came to the attention of the Kuomintang authorities, and some people who spread new ideas were investigated and monitored.
Although the Kuomintang Ministry of National Defense's Second Drama Team hung the Kuomintang brand, it was indeed an important position for the Party to propagate revolutionary ideas.
In order to protect these important propagandists, Lantian Ye was ordered to risk his life and undertook the important work of transferring these personnel.
In this way, he became a major officer of the Kuomintang and completed the task perfectly on the eve of the Mid-Autumn Festival.
At that time, this second drama team had already been noticed by people with a heart, and the authorities even sent a new captain over, named Captain, which was actually an investigation.
Lan Tianye arranged for someone to give a warm welcome to the new captain, while secretly observing his character.
In the end, the careful Lantian Ye found that the new captain liked to play mahjong very much, so he immediately organized one mahjong game after another for him, so that he couldn't get out of the way at all.
It was the Mid-Autumn Festival, and while playing mahjong with the new captain, Lan Tianye arranged for the actors to leave one after another in the name of going home to visit relatives on vacation.
Because he was the person in charge of this transfer mission, Lan Tianye left quietly after arranging for everyone to retreat safely.

After returning to the liberated area of North China, in order to avoid bringing disasters to relatives and friends in the nationalized area, Lantian Ye changed his original name and named himself "Lantian Ye", which has been used for 74 years.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lantian Ye continued to perform drama and performed one classic role after another.
He is the second master of Qin who sold his ancestral industry to save the country in "Teahouse", Jiang Ziya who assisted King Wu of Zhou to destroy Shang in "Fengshen Bang", and Hu Han Evil Shan Yu, the leader of the Huns in "Wang Zhaojun".
