Former West Ham United striker Scamacca sealed the nerve to Atalanta's 3-0 win over Liverpool at Anfield, leaving Liverpool in jeopardy in the Europa League.
The Italian striker led Atalanta to a stunning victory.
His first goal came after a pinpoint cross from former Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta and a cool effort to open the scoring.
The second goal was even more spectacular, as De Ketelaere's pinpoint pass from the right found Scamacca in the box, and he volleyed home a clever effort to avoid Kelleher's interception in mid-air.
Scamacca was also indirectly involved in the third goal, with his pass creating a shot for Marteng de Jong, and although De Jong's shot was saved, the ball bounced off the feet of former Chelsea player Pasalic, who comfortably smashed the ball into the empty net.
According to relevant statistics, Scamacca also became the first Italian player in history to score two goals away to Liverpool in a European competition.
The defeat also equalled Liverpool's record for the largest home defeat in a major European competition, with Real Madrid losing by three goals in 2014 and 2023 (2-5).
Last year's game was also Liverpool's last home defeat, according to statistics, Liverpool had been unbeaten in 34 games at home, and the last loss was on February 22 last year, when Liverpool lost 2-5 to Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Despite a landslide victory for Atalanta, they still need to beat Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool in the second leg next week to secure progress to the semi-finals.
Premier League fans may be surprised by Scamacca's excellent performances at Atalanta, especially given that disappointing season he spent at West Ham United.
The 25-year-old moved from Sassuolo to West Ham United for £30million in 2022 but has been disappointing with just three goals in 16 league appearances. He returned to Italy last summer for £22.5 million.
However, after returning to his home country, Scamacca's form has picked up significantly. He scored 11 goals in 32 games and showed great attacking prowess.
Even more remarkable, his brace against Liverpool took him to a staggering six goals in his last six games.
In fact, Scamacca has been praised since childhood. Back in 2014, when he was just 15 years old, Liverpool tried to sign him and reportedly offered him a contract with a whopping £135,000-a-week salary.
However, the move ultimately fell through, with Scamacca joining PSV Eindhoven a year later.
After a spell at PSV Eindhoven, Scamacca returned to Italy in 2017 to join Sassuolo.
Then, for the next four seasons, he spent the next four seasons on loan at other teams, only to finally break into Sassuolo's first team in 2021.
That season, Scamacca scored 16 goals in 38 games and attracted attention across Europe. Eventually, West Ham United managed to sign the high-profile striker.
However, his performances at West Ham United have not been as good as they could have been, which has left fans with questions about his future.
Now, his performances at Atalanta have shown his true quality and potential.
