On April 11, the third day of the third lunar month, the 2024 China Wangmo "March 3rd" National Cultural Tourism Festival and the 2nd Purple Tea Cultural Festival opened at the Queen Mother Cultural Square in Wangmo County, Southwest Guizhou Buyi and Miao Autonomous Prefecture. Tens of thousands of people from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guiyang City, and Wangmo County from various townships (towns, streets) of Buyi, Miao, Yao and other ethnic groups formed a phalanx team, dressed in the costumes of their respective ethnic groups, showing the charm of traditional culture from multiple perspectives such as society, ethnicity, culture and folk customs.
The "March 3rd" festival of the Buyi nationality is the most important traditional festival of the Buyi people. On the third day of the third lunar month every year, the Buyi compatriots will spontaneously gather together to hold celebrations, praying for good weather, remembering their ancestors, thanksgiving to natural landscapes, exchanging thoughts and feelings, and embodying the most authentic national customs, the most primitive national culture, and the most typical agricultural civilization.
There are 19 ethnic groups such as Buyi, Han, Miao and Yao living in Wangmo County, and the ethnic minorities account for 80.2% of the total population, of which the Buyi nationality accounts for 63.7%.
