On April 11, 2024, the Intermediate People's Court of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province, held a public hearing in the first instance of the bribery case of Zhang Fusheng, former deputy director of the Fire and Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Emergency Management.
The Fuzhou Municipal People's Procuratorate indicted and alleged: From 1997 to 2022, the defendant Zhang Fusheng took advantage of his position as the chief staff member and deputy director of the Cadre Division of the Personnel Training Bureau of the Political Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the deputy director of the Research Office of the Political Department of the Ministry of Public Security, the director of the Police Division, deputy director-level investigator and deputy director of the Fire Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security, and the member of the Party Committee and deputy director of the Fire and Rescue Bureau of the Ministry of Emergency Management and the director of the Education and Training Department of the Ministry of Emergency Management. provided assistance in matters such as job promotion and job transfer, and illegally accepted property directly or through specific related parties, totaling more than 38.93 million yuan. The procuratorate requested that Zhang Fusheng be investigated for criminal responsibility for the crime of accepting bribes.
During the trial, the procuratorate presented relevant evidence, the defendant Zhang Fusheng and his defender conducted cross-examination, the prosecution and defense fully expressed their opinions under the auspices of the court, and Zhang Fusheng made a final statement and pleaded guilty and repented in court. At the end of the trial, the court announced an adjournment and announced the verdict at a later date.
More than 40 people, including deputies to the National People's Congress, members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and people from all walks of life, attended the trial.
