01

Risk points

The main risk points of escalator (moving walk) and step (pedal) are as follows:

(1) The step (pedal) is missing, and the monitoring device fails

For escalators (moving walks) produced in accordance with the GB16899-2011 "Safety Code for the Manufacturing and Installation of Escalators and Moving Walks", it is required to set up a monitoring device for the absence of steps (pedals), and the "Elevator Maintenance Rules" requires that the device be inspected in half a month. If the daily maintenance is not in place, the device may fail.

(2) There is no monitoring device for the lack of steps (pedals).

Generally, the equipment manufactured before 2012 is an escalator (moving walk) produced in accordance with GB16899-1997, and there is no requirement to set up a step (pedal) missing monitoring device.

(3) Passengers enter by mistake during the maintenance process

During the maintenance process, the operator did not set up guardrails and other blocking devices at the entrances and exits, and dismantled the steps (pedals), and the passengers did not pay attention to them, and they were involved in the equipment by mistake.

(4) Mistakenly opening faulty equipment

After the operator dismantles the steps (pedals) during the maintenance process, the disassembled steps (treads) leave without restoring the disassembled steps (treads) because the elevator cannot be repaired temporarily. The personnel who use the management unit to open the elevator mistakenly open the faulty equipment without knowing it, resulting in passengers being involved in the equipment.

Precautionary measures

In order to avoid the above related risks, the following precautions need to be taken:

(1) Carry out maintenance work in strict accordance with the requirements of safety technical specifications, and do a good job in the inspection of the missing monitoring device of the step (pedal) during the half-month guarantee.

(2) The maintenance unit shall check whether there is a risk of falling off the step (pedal), and at the same time take anti-falling measures in accordance with the relevant process requirements of the manufacturing unit.

(3) In the daily maintenance process, safety protection measures should be strictly taken on site to avoid passengers entering by mistake, including: setting up guardrails and other blocking devices, strengthening passenger guidance, etc.

(4) For equipment failures, if the disassembled steps (pedals) cannot be restored temporarily, the ladder shall be stopped in a reliable manner such as mechanical locking the ladder road and power-off tagging, and at the same time, the relevant responsible personnel of the use management unit shall make a safety disclosure to avoid opening the faulty equipment by mistake.

(4) Before getting on the elevator, determine the direction of the elevator to avoid stepping back.

(5) Do not play with handrails, comb plates or steps and other moving parts with relative movement.

(6) Educate children not to climb and play near the escalator, and not to play on the escalator, go against the road or sit and lie on the steps.

(7) When entering the escalator, do not step on the junction of the two steps, so as not to fall down due to the height difference between the front and rear steps.

(8) When taking the escalator, hold the handrail tightly, stand firmly in the yellow line of the step with both feet, and cannot lean on either side of the escalator or lean on the handrail.

(9) When there is an emergency, do not be nervous, shout for help, and remind others to immediately press the red emergency stop button under the side of the escalator (the escalator is provided in the upper and lower directions). In non-emergency situations, do not press the button by mistake, or press it for fun, otherwise the sudden shutdown will easily cause passengers to fall, tumble or step on.
