Mattel, is a well-known Barbie doll manufacturer and one of the largest toy manufacturers in the world. Inspired by the brand's well-known toy collection, the design team turned its Polish headquarters into a wonderful, diverse and playful space that aligned with its brand culture.

The story of the world's most popular doll has captivated millions of viewers to cinemas and is a testament to Mattel's success. Take a look at the new headquarters office in Warsaw, Poland, created by the design team of BIT CREATIVE for the famous toy company Mattel.
Mattel Toys is one of the world's largest toy manufacturers (famous Barbie doll manufacturer), founded in 1945 and headquartered in El Segundo, California, USA. It is a leader in the design, production and sales of children's products. Mattel's main brands include the most popular and best-selling Barbie® Doll and Hot Wheels®, Matchbox®, American Girl®, Radica®, Tyco® R/C and Fisher-Price® brands, as well as Little People®, Power Wheels® and a range of educational toys.
Headquartered on the 34th floor of the Skyliner Building in the heart of Warsaw's business district, Mattel Poland occupies an area of 650 square meters and transports everyone into the magical world of the most popular children's toy manufacturer through wonderful interior design. Here you will find iconic products such as Barbie, Fisher-Price toys, Hot Wheels or matchboxes, which have become an important decorative element in interior design, although they are not dominant.
"When planning the design concept for Mattel's Warsaw office, our main idea was to create a multi-coloured interior that would reflect the spirit of the brand as we know it. "At the same time, special care was taken not to disturb the staff by too many colors and contrasts." In addition, we decided to visually distinguish the spaces according to the different functions. ”
As a result, you'll find that the meeting rooms are infused with rich branding colors and motifs, while the open public spaces and strictly working spaces create a serene and comfortable working atmosphere through the use of limited colours (grey and white) and the use of only the red accents in the company's brand book.
When you look at the entire office environment from the perspective of a passage or open space, you will notice that the interior space is serene and soft. "However, when you go inside some meeting rooms or collaboration spaces, you'll find that each one has a unique color palette that presents a vibrant brand visual. Architect Jakub Bubel emphasized.
The space features meeting rooms of various sizes, collaboration rooms, large function kitchens, open spaces and separate workspaces. The reception and waiting areas are a major element that makes up the overall character of the interior and define the design tone of the entire space. Perforated ceilings, warm wood finishes, and colors such as white, gray, and red are also present in other areas of the office. In addition, the popular Barbie pink and Barbie bus-shaped sofas are also a highlight of this case.
In this case, the architect used a combination of design techniques.
Modular One is the two largest meeting rooms, representing Mattel's most recognizable brands: Barbie dolls and Fisher Price toys. Because the two rooms can be connected to each other, they are visually interconnected and visually mirrored to each other.
Modular 2 is a smaller four-person meeting room with Hot Wheels and Matchboxes as the design theme. The two rooms are separated by only one wall, so they are also visually close to each other. The walls are decorated with poster graphics prepared by customers and lacobel lacquered glass that can be written. At the same time, the two rooms have an unconventional solution – a conference table made of car engine parts, and a conference chair converted from a car seat.
Modular 3 is a small meeting room for more intimate conversations. What they all have in common is the use of specific finishes and location planning. However, each room still represents a unique brand element, such as a Scrabble board in the form of a table or a wall of Megabloks. Each room's ceiling and walls feature a vibrant colour scheme of their own brand's products, showcasing the brand they represent.
On the other hand, the employee workspace in the open space is decorated in white and gray with red accents. The ceilings in these areas are bare-topped and unified in light gray, but oversized acoustic felt lamps hang above the desks, and the walls are decorated with decorative panels made of two-color fabrics.
The social, collaborative and relaxation areas are designed to be more daring and fun.
The kitchen in the social area has a retro design. The cabinets are fitted with fluted door panels, as well as beautiful terrazzo countertops and neon lights on the walls. Metal flower stands are made at the top of the relaxation area, which are decorated with vibrant greenery to create a stylish and comfortable casual atmosphere.
Another undeniable advantage of this area is its location. When people take a coffee break, they can enjoy a panoramic view of Warsaw and the surrounding area. That's why the kitchen social area is planned with a variety of seating – from comfortable armchairs, light dining chairs and sofas, to high bar tables and bar chairs facing the window.
On the other hand, the collaboration area, which is connected to the relaxation area, is part of the workspace and serves multiple functions. It is not only a space for collaboration, but also a place to organize large internal meetings. Comfortable furnishings such as sectional sofas, armchairs, swing chairs that hang from the ceiling, and high-back armchairs with comfortable small tables for working on laptops in a comfortable environment.
WHILE IT WAS QUITE A CHALLENGE TO PLACE SO MANY FUNCTIONS IN A RELATIVELY SMALL SPACE AREA WHEN IT CAME TO SPACE PLANNING, AS YOU CAN SEE, THE ARCHITECTS AT BIT CREATIVE MET THESE CLIENT REQUIREMENTS 100%.
