In 1982, Rolex introduced the GMT-Master II to help professional pilots navigate long flights. The distinctive and easily recognizable design features a bidirectional rotatable bezel and a 24-hour graduated insert, as well as a number of two-tone inserts, the lower half representing daytime time and the upper half representing nighttime time. The GMT-Master is a functional watch that has been continuously improved over the years and its technical performance has been improved day by day.

Rolex pioneered the development of ceramic technology with the development of a one-piece ceramic bezel and a ceramic insert. These materials are not only scratch-resistant, but also environmentally friendly. The high-tech ceramic insert is made of special chemicals that are extremely difficult to corrode. Over the years, Rolex has developed a unique set of expertise and innovative equipment and processes that allow it to produce ceramic components completely in-house.

Introduced in the late 1930s, the three-link Oyster bracelet is the most robust and reliable bracelet worn in the Oyster Perpetual collection. The five-link commemorative metal bracelet is a flexible and comfortable bracelet designed and released by Rolex in 1945 for the Oyster Perpetual Datejust. Both the GMT-Master II's Oyster and Anniversary bracelets are equipped with a folding Oysterclasp to prevent accidental opening. The clasp is also fitted with the Easylink extension system, developed by Rolex, which allows the wearer to easily extend the bracelet by approximately 5 mm.

The movement of the new watch is certified by the Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC). The test is carried out after the watch has been assembled and the movement is mounted in the case to ensure that it performs optimally in terms of precision, power reserve, waterproofness and self-winding when worn. In addition, with an average error of plus or minus two seconds per day, the new Rolex Perpetual GMT-Master II is the undisputed king in terms of both appearance and performance.
