Many people who don't know the inside story think that the Shandong People's Printing Factory is in Jinan, the provincial capital, mainly because the name of this factory is very atmospheric, but they don't know that it is in the Luzhong Mountains, under the slopes of a southern mountainous area in Laiwu, for reasons of secrecy, people generally call it the code name "709".
On the first day I was transferred, I found that the factory was not ordinary, there were two shuttle buses parked in the yard, and there were more than 10 large and small transport vehicles, it was 83 years, I remember that when I was transferred from Shanxi, there were only about 10 transport vehicles in a small county, and there were only so many of our factories.
There is a distribution department in the factory, which is the only printing enterprise that enjoys the distribution qualification of the five major printing factories in Shandong. It is mainly located in remote mountainous areas, with inconvenient transportation, and preferential policies given by the Provincial Publishing House and Publishing Bureau. Every day, many transport vehicles pull exquisite printed products to Laiwu East Railway Station, and then send them to all parts of the country.
Canglong Gorge is one of the eight major scenery of Laiwu, and its geographical location is less than a kilometer away from the printing plant. Every day after work, the workers will go to Canglong Gorge in twos and threes, or in groups. There are ancient stone carvings here, and there are many Ming and Qing Dynasty monuments that were destroyed by the four olds. The main landscape of Canglong Gorge is "Cangxia Thunder", three heavy rains every year, there is a flood, the Yedian Reservoir in the upper reaches begins to discharge floodwater, the water flows through Canglong Gorge, gushes down, forms a waterfall, extremely spectacular, the turbulent water potential, whirls along the strange stones, the sound of water is like thunder, and the thunder of Cangxia is named after this.
In addition to going for a walk in Canglong Gorge, it is to go climbing. Coming out of the factory is the mountain, many family members go to the mountain with shovels and baskets to dig wild vegetables, and there are also young men and women who pull their shyness into the dusk.
Saturday and Sunday are days when the workers are off and in shifts, and the factory's "land, water and air" teams are in action. "Land, water and air" is the nickname given to some of the workers who like wild hunting and anglers. At that time, many workers had hunting guns, which were called rabbit guns by the locals, and whenever they had free time, they would carry a canvas bag and a military kettle to the mountains to hunt rabbits, and some young people would buy air guns to hunt birds around the woods, and some people would ride bicycles to the Yedian Reservoir to fish. In this way, the entire "water, land and air" organization spread.
Playing cards at night, ticking off and leveling up, etc., are also part of the workers' spare time, and some young people go to the big well to touch the crabs. The frogs in the pond can't bear the loneliness and clamoring for the sultry weather. Some people went to ponds and rivers with flashlights to catch frogs. My roommate made a cloth bag out of gauze and caught more than 20 frogs at once. In the middle of the night, the frog somehow opened the bag and jumped all over the house. This frightened me, the frog is a cold-blooded animal, I was very scared, this is worth it, the housemate saw this, and hurriedly grabbed the bag one by one. The next day, these live frogs became a meal on his plate with a few co-workers.
The factory began to print the college entrance examination papers, fearing leakage, and the management was particularly strict, and there were special personnel to take care of them. However, during this period, an unexpected situation happened, there was a mass incident in the factory, many people had diarrhea, the infirmary was full, and there were many diarrhea patients in the factory auditorium. A couple of young people upstairs were playing poker when they suddenly felt diarrhea and moved into a makeshift shelter in the auditorium. Rumors outside: "The workers of 709 have sick No. 2!" and "The troops are under martial law." "The garlic on the market has multiplied several times at once, and in order to prevent contagion, the factory temporarily forbids it to go home to visit relatives. This has exacerbated people's panic and family fears.
After the disease was controlled and eliminated, I returned to my hometown, and my mother cried when she saw me, "Why did you come back?" My mother tugged at my collar, her worry and concern were understandable. Thankfully, the disease didn't spread outward, I didn't spread it, and I went to work normally. Outside the gate of the factory, nearby villagers began to set up stalls again, and the lively scene of the past gradually recovered.
The activities and corporate culture in the factory have been vigorous and improving, the blackboard newspaper of each workshop carries out the evaluation, and our color printing workshop and lead printing workshop organize members and young people to climb the mountain and hold various beneficial activities on the mountain. "May Fourth Youth Day" Youth League Committee organized a youth gala, and founded the factory's internal magazine "Youth Tabloid", "Printing News" and "People's Factory Daily", the workers were enthusiastic, have participated in various activities in the factory, for the winners and participants of each activity, there is a small gift, fully mobilize the enthusiasm of the workers.
Now, decades later, the memory of "709" still flashes in my mind.
