1 What is the Strong Base Program?
In January 2020, the Ministry of Education issued the "Opinions on Carrying out the Pilot Work of Basic Discipline Enrollment Reform in Some Universities", and decided to carry out the pilot reform of basic discipline enrollment in some colleges and universities from 2020, also known as the "Strong Foundation Plan", and the original independent enrollment method of colleges and universities will no longer be used. The "Strong Foundation Program" mainly selects students who are interested in serving the major strategic needs of the country and have excellent comprehensive quality or top-notch basic disciplines, focusing on key fields such as high-end chips and software, intelligent technology, new materials, advanced manufacturing and national security, as well as the humanities and social sciences fields where there is a shortage of national talents, focusing on mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, mechanics, basic medicine, breeding, history, philosophy, paleography and other related majors. In 2022, on the basis of the previous 36 pilot universities of the Strong Foundation Plan, three universities including Northeastern University, Hunan University, and Northwest A&F University will be added to carry out the pilot of the Strong Foundation Plan, and the enrollment scale, majors, and assessment methods will also be adjusted. Under the premise of ensuring fairness and justice, the "Strong Foundation Plan" actively explores multi-dimensional assessment and evaluation models, and gradually establishes an effective mechanism for the selection and training of top-notch innovative talents in basic disciplines.
2 What kind of talents will be selected in the Strong Foundation Program?
The guiding ideology and principle of the Strong Foundation Plan is to serve the national strategy, recruit a group of aspiring, interested and talented young students for special training, and provide reserve talents for major national strategic fields. 3 What are the enrollment majors of the Strong Foundation Program?
The Strong Foundation Program highlights the supporting and leading role of basic disciplines, focusing on mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, mechanics, basic medicine, breeding, history, philosophy, paleography and other related majors. It focuses on key areas such as high-end chips and software, intelligent technology, new materials, advanced manufacturing and national security, as well as humanities and social sciences fields where there is a shortage of national talents. Colleges and universities will combine their own characteristics of running a school, reasonably arrange the enrollment majors, and establish a dynamic adjustment mechanism for discipline majors, and adjust the enrollment majors of the Strong Foundation Plan in a timely manner according to the requirements of the new situation and the enrollment situation.
4 What are the scope of pilot institutions under the Strong Foundation Program?
At the initial stage of the Strong Foundation Plan, colleges and universities will be selected to carry out pilot projects within the scope of some "first-class universities". Colleges and universities apply to the Ministry of Education and submit integrated plans for enrollment and talent training of relevant majors. The Ministry of Education organized experts to comprehensively consider factors such as the positioning of colleges and universities, the quality of talent training, the construction of scientific research projects and platforms, enrollment and talent training programs, and other factors, and in accordance with the principle of "one school, one policy", to study and determine the universities, majors and scale of enrollment in the Strong Foundation Plan.

5 Application process for the Strong Foundation Program
From the end of March to April, the brochure will be published and online registration will be made.
In June, candidates took the unified college entrance examination.
After the college entrance examination and before July 4, all provinces (autonomous regions, municipalities) will provide the results of the college entrance examination, and colleges and universities will determine the assessment list and organize the assessment.
Before July 5, colleges and universities will convert the comprehensive results and select the best for admission.
