Recently, the Hongfu Puppet Kunqu Opera Troupe Protection and Inheritance Center of Wujiang Qidu, Jiangsu Province, the Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Center of Taishun County, Zhejiang Province, and the Pingyang Puppet Inheritance Center conducted puppet performance art exchanges, shared practical experience in the protection and inheritance of puppet shows, and held the "Jiangsu and Zhejiang Puppet Cultural Exchange and Performance Activities".
At the Binh Duong Puppet Heritage Center, the two sides exchanged performances to understand their respective performance methods and characteristics. During the visit, the delegation had an in-depth understanding of the history and production process of Binh Duong puppet and the operation mode of the Binh Duong Puppet Inheritance Center, and exchanged views with the experts and staff of the center.
In Taishun County Mingde Experimental School, the Qidu Hongfu Puppet Kun Opera Troupe and the Taishun Puppet Troupe held a unique art performance. "The Peony Pavilion - Garden", "The Legend of the West Chamber: The Good Period", "Xu Ce Running the City", "True and False Monkey King" and other programs were staged in turn, presenting a wonderful performance for the teachers and students and winning bursts of applause.
During the event, the delegation visited Pingyang Mingshan Ancient Village, Taishun Covered Bridge Cultural Park, Taishun County Cultural Activity Center and other places, learned the successful experience of intangible cultural heritage protection in brother counties and cities, and also went to the studio of Mr. Ji Tianyuan, the inheritor of national intangible cultural heritage (puppet head carving), to visit and investigate and experience the puppet carving skills up close.
Seven puppet kunqu opera
Puppet show is known as the ancestor of opera, originated from the Qin and Han dynasties, flourished in the Tang and Song dynasties, has a wide variety, rich content, has its own unique art form and cultural charm, and has endured for thousands of years. Binh Duong puppet theatre is dominated by marionettes and was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists in 2008. In 2011, the Taishun puppet show was included in the third batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.
In 2016, it was included in the fourth batch of Jiangsu Provincial Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Items.
