As a water conservancy automation system integrator, our company recently took over a smart reservoir construction project. The project is located in a large reservoir in a mountainous area, and the purpose of this project is to modernize and intelligently transform it, and improve the management level of water supply and flood control. At the beginning of the design of the scheme, we organized a site survey to fully understand the actual situation of the reservoir. The reservoir not only has a water storage area of tens of square kilometers, but also has a very large basin. According to the requirements of the owner, we need to grasp the multi-dimensional data of the reservoir area in real time, including the inflow rate, outflow flow, water level, flow velocity, and rainfall in the basin, etc., to provide data support for scientific decision-making.

To this end, we have installed a series of advanced telemetry equipment at the intake, outlet and other key locations of the reservoir. These include our SR800-01 5G industrial router, SG500 energy consumption data acquisition gateway, as well as radar flow meter, radar velocity meter, GNSS receiver, radar water level gauge, rain gauge and other sensors.

These devices are wired or wirelessly connected to the SG500 gateway in the field to realize the real-time collection and transmission of field data. SG500 has built-in 4 independent isolated RS485 interfaces, which can connect multiple telemetry terminals at the same time to meet the requirements of many devices.

For remote data transmission, we use a two-tier network architecture. The field level is built by the SeDTU200 industrial-grade 4G DTU of Xingchuang Yilian, which has strong reliability and anti-interference capabilities. All field data is aggregated to the SeDTU200, encrypted and transmitted to a second-level remote network.

The second level of long-range network is undertaken by the SR800-01 5G industrial router. This product integrates multiple communication technologies such as 5G, optical fiber, and virtual private network to achieve network redundancy and backup at the power system level. Through the way of mutual backup of the network, the continuous and stable data transmission is ensured.

The SR800-01 securely transmits aggregated field data to a cloud-based smart reservoir management platform. The platform has multi-model data analysis, early warning and forecasting functions, and can make accurate predictions on the trend of storage capacity in the future for a period of time according to various data. In the event of an emergency such as rain or overflow, the platform will immediately issue an early warning and give a suggested flood distribution and dispatch plan.

With this smart reservoir solution, the owner now has a good understanding of the operation status of the entire reservoir, and the water resources in the reservoir area are more intelligent and efficient. This will not only benefit local disaster prevention and mitigation, agricultural water supply and other matters, but will also enhance the people's sense of happiness and security.

During the construction process, although we were affected by some factors such as harsh environment and outdated facilities, we were able to overcome all the problems one by one thanks to our close collaboration with the owner and partners. The successful implementation of the smart reservoir solution once again confirms the important role of emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things and big data in promoting the modernization of water conservancy.

At present, the project has been basically completed and delivered. We will also continue to summarize and sublimate and contribute to more water conservancy informatization projects. It is believed that through continuous innovation, smart water must make water resources management more refined and efficient, and bring clean and high-quality water resources to the people.
