In July 2006, the relevant state departments jointly issued the "Notice on Further Strengthening the Safety Management of Balloon Release", requiring the use of inert gas instead of hydrogen and other flammable and explosive gases as the filling of balloons, and clearly stipulating that it is forbidden to fill and release hydrogen balloons and their lift-off objects in public places, and it is strictly forbidden to fill hand-held hydrogen balloons on various occasions.
In addition to hydrogen, the inert gas helium can also float balloons. However, the market price of helium is about 10 times that of hydrogen, and some traders are still risking the processing and sale of hydrogen balloons, knowing that hydrogen is very dangerous.
