近日,英国权威研究机构High Fliers发布了《2024年英国毕业生就业市场报告》(The Graduate Market in 2024)

The UK job market report is out! It is easy for graduates of these schools to get into famous companies!

The report examines the latest changes in graduate starting salaries and industry roles at 100 of the UK's most well-known and successful employers, as well as 20 UK universities that these employers would prioritise when hiring!

High Fliers

High Fliers is an independent market research company that specializes in student research. Over the past three decades, it has worked with more than 200 leading employers to measure the impact of college graduate recruitment activities and help them understand their position in the graduate job market.

The company is best known for the UK Graduate Employment Survey, which is commissioned and funded annually by 60 domestic and international employers and conducts a comprehensive annual study of 15,000 graduates from 30 TOP universities.

In addition, High Fliers Research has also worked with the UK Department for Education, which is second to none in its expertise and authority.

Graduate starting salary

The report notes that among the salaries offered by the UK's top employers, the median starting salary of graduates in 2024 has risen, with salaries rising by 13.3% to £34,000 since 2021. But this report does not seem to consider the impact of inflation on the purchasing power of money from 2009 to 2024.

Note: The starting salary does not include travel allowance, Medicaid, statutory redundancy pay, relocation allowance, transportation allowance or bonus, etc.

According to the report, the top five industries with the highest demand for graduates are accounting and professional services firms, public sector, technology companies, industrial engineering, and investment banking.

Among them, the field of industrial engineering increased the most, with an increase of 8.2% compared to 2022, an increase of 218 jobs.

While there has been a surge in applications from employers this year and the number of jobs placed in individual sectors has increased, overall, the number of vacancies for senior employers in the UK has been on a downward trend in 2023, down 6.4% from the previous year.

Despite the downward trend in the number of jobs released in some sectors, the UK remains one of the world economic leaders. There are still a wide range of career opportunities for students to choose from:

Many universities in the UK offer "sandwich courses" at the undergraduate level, with 6-12 months of paid internships during the university period. Some universities in the UK provide post-graduation internships for master's students, ranging from 3 to 12 months.

After the resumption of the UK Graduate Employment Visa in 2021, international Bachelor's and Master's graduates are entitled to a 2-year internship employment visa, and international PhD graduates are entitled to a 3-year internship employment visa.
