Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur vs Nottingham Forest

Can Nuno lead Forest return to Tottenham home to victory?

This weekend, the Premier League will see a major fixture as Nottingham Forest, led by Nuno Espirito Santo, travels to north London to take on their former club Tottenham Hotspur.

Forest beat Fulham 3-1 in midweek to boost morale, while Tottenham dropped points against West Ham United and missed the chance to close the gap on the Champions League places.

Is Tottenham's home nightmare hard to shake?

Although Tottenham finally broke their embarrassing record of starting a dumb fire in the first six rounds, they were held to a draw at home by West Ham United. Brennan Johnson, who returned from loan, opened the scoring but then Kurt Zouma headed past Tottenham from a corner.

Although the Hammers created more scoring opportunities, they were unable to win in the end. With Aston Villa's defeat to Manchester City in their next game, Tottenham temporarily retained fifth place, just two points behind fourth-placed Villa and still have a game to go.

It should be noted that Tottenham have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 11 home games and have yet to score a first-half goal at home in 2024. To make matters worse, they also lost this season to another former manager, Chelsea.

Is Forest expected to get revenge?

Nottingham Forest manager Jasto Santo will return to the Tottenham home stadium he once coached, having managed just 10 Premier League games before sacking the sack. This week he will lead his side in a bid to win against his former club and replicate Jose Mourinho's feat of leading Chelsea to victory over Tottenham this season.

In midweek, Forest beat Fulham 3-1 to end a six-game winless run in all competitions. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Gibster and Wood found the back of the net for Fulham in the first half, and the opposition's substitutions didn't help.

At present, the Forest team is in 17th place, three points clear of the relegation zone, and the prospect of relegation is quite optimistic. However, they are yet to win away games in 2024 and lost 2-0 at home to Tottenham in December, one of five successive wins against Forest.

Our prediction: Tottenham 2-1 Nottingham Forest

Tottenham's home defence is porous, giving a glimmer of hope to an in-form Forest side. However, given Tottenham's five comeback wins this season, coupled with Johnson's impressive performances, we still fancy Tottenham to pick up three points at home and continue their quest for a Champions League spot.
