How can hydrogen transportation operate sustainably?

author:Sany Group official

Recently, CGTN came to Sany Zhilian Heavy Truck Industrial Park to visit Sany's hydrogen fuel heavy truck production line and hydrogen production and refueling station, showing Sany's innovative achievements in the field of hydrogen energy transportation to the world, and fully demonstrating Sany's hard core strength in new energy technology!

Original report

China has proposed to upgrade and expand its hydrogen industry by 2030. The hydrogen industry is currently facing a major challenge: how to transport commercial hydrogen on a large scale in a safe and cost-effective manner. CGTN reporter Ning Hong came to Hunan, where a company is developing a green hydrogen delivery solution.

China has set its sights on developing the country's hydrogen energy industry by 2030. But one of the main challenges faced by the sector is how to transport commercial quantities of hydrogen in a safe and cost-effective way. Ning Hong visits an enterprise in Hunan Province that's developing solutions for transporting green hydrogen.

Ning Hong: "This is a flexible production line suitable for the production of many types of trucks, which can produce diesel, gasoline, electric and hydrogen fuel vehicles at the same time. How do we coordinate the parts and materials for different models?"

NING HONG "This is a flexible production line which is designed to adapt to the production of varies types of trucks. We simultaneously manufacture diesel, gasoline, electric, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. How do we coordinate the different vehicle types in terms of their parts and materials?"

Zeng Fanli, deputy general manager of Changsha Company of Sany Commercial Vehicle Intelligent Manufacturing Company: "First of all, we have a set of order management system. The production orders generated by this system automatically identify the materials required for each vehicle type, thus ensuring that the parts required for each vehicle are unique and correct. In order to be able to produce hydrogen-fueled heavy-duty trucks, it took us about six months to renovate the production line, debug the equipment, train the personnel, and finally achieve mass production. ”

ZENG FANLI Deputy General Manager SANY Commercial Vehicle Company, Changsha "Firstly, we have an order management system in place. Through this system, we generate production orders that can automatically identify the required materials for each vehicle type. This ensures that every vehicle receives the correct and unique set of components. To manufacture vehicles like hydrogen fuel cell trucks, we invested approximately six months to modify the production line. This includes factory renovations, equipment debugging, personnel training, and ultimately, mass production."

Rao Hongyu, General Manager of Sany Hydrogen Energy: "Although the hydrogen production equipment industry has existed for decades, it is not until the past ten years, with the vigorous development of wind power and photovoltaic industries, that our LCOE has been effectively controlled. Taking photovoltaic as an example, our photovoltaic power generation cost has been reduced by 90% in more than ten years, and the economic feasibility of hydrogen production based on wind and solar energy has been effectively guaranteed. In order to help achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, we need to use a large amount of hydrogen in industries such as green chemicals, green transportation and green metallurgy, and hydrogen production by water electrolysis will become a rigid demand. ”

RAO HONGYU General Manager, SANY Hydrogen Energy "The hydrogen equipment industry has existed for decades, but in the past decade or so, the vigorous development of wind power and photovoltaic industries has effectively controlled our electricity generation costs. Taking photovoltaics as an example, over the past decade, our photovoltaic electricity generation costs have decreased by 90 percent. The economic viability of hydrogen production based on wind and solar power has been effectively ensured. To achieve the dual carbon goals of peak carbon emissions and carbon neutrality, we need to use a large amount of hydrogen in industries such as green chemicals, green transportation, and green metallurgy. Electrolysis of water for hydrogen production has become an essential requirement."
