Recently, according to Taiwan media reports, regarding Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland, Ko Wenzhe, chairman of the People's Party, said in an interview, "It cannot be said that only the consensus of '92 is the way for the two sides of the strait not to fight a war, 'we must always seek a way.'" Ke Wenzhe believes that the "consensus of '92" has been stigmatized by the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in Taiwan, and all political parties on the island talk about this change. Make long-term plans for dialogue between the People's Party and the mainland, and enter the "deep water zone" of cross-strait relations. Ko Wenzhe may propose an "alternative" to the "92 Consensus."
The "92 Consensus" has been set by the mainland as the "anchor of the sea" for the peaceful development of cross-strait relations. No matter what plan Ko Wenzhe proposes, the core concept of "both sides of the strait belong to one China" must not be evaded. On the first day of his visit to the mainland, Ma Ying-jeou praised the "consensus of '92." He said that the "consensus of '92" was a consensus reached by the two sides of the strait in the past when they used their wisdom to put aside disputes, seek common ground while reserving differences, and jointly create a win-win situation, which laid a common political foundation for both sides of the strait and changed the direction of the development of cross-strait relations in the future.
During his eight-year term in office, cross-strait relations have reached the best in history, and no one in the world thinks that war will break out between the two sides of the strait. However, it is a pity that when Ma Ying-jeou was in power, he only negotiated the "92 Consensus" with the mainland, and there is still a very serious problem left behind, that is, "one China, each with its own interpretation."
The most crucial thing is that the Taiwan side opposes both "peaceful reunification" and "one country, two systems." On 21 March, Xia Liyan, vice chairman of the Kuomintang, gave a speech at Chung Hua University in Hsinchu and openly stated that "the '92 consensus is not equal to one country, two systems, and the two are completely different in terms of timing, content, and purpose." However, as far as the mainland is concerned, the '92 consensus and one country, two systems complement each other and are indispensable. The '92 consensus is the basis of political theory, and one country, two systems is the concrete manifestation of cross-strait reunification.
No matter who it is, if they only talk about cross-strait peace and stability and do not talk about reunification, then it is the essence of "Taiwan independence," and it is only divided into "open independence" and "covert independence." On 6 April, it was already the sixth day of Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland, and many people in the reunification faction on the island had hoped that this time Ma Ying-jeou would openly say the words "support the peaceful reunification of the two sides of the strait."
On April 6, Ma Ying-jeou visited the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum of the Mausoleum Museum of Qin Shi Huang, known as the eighth wonder of the world. After Ma Ying-jeou's visit, the venue was opened to the public. In 2005, when Lien Chan, the honorary chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, visited the Terracotta Warriors and Horses Museum of Qin Shi Huang on an "ice-breaking trip", he also enjoyed the highest courtesy, allowing him to see the Terracotta Warriors and Horses up close.
On the whole, Ma Ying-jeou's visit to the mainland this time is positive and positive. Although Ma Ying-jeou is now unofficial and unemployed, what he can do is more symbolic. On the cross-strait issue, Ma Ying-jeou is still much stronger than the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) and the Kuomintang (KMT) Zhu Lilun and Hou Youyi. It is rather regrettable that so far, during Ma Ying-jeou's second visit to the mainland, he still has not explicitly expressed his support for cross-strait reunification. According to Qiu Yi, Ma Ying-jeou's refusal to express his stance should be due to the fear of the ensuing political persecution by the DPP.
In this regard, Tang Xianglong, a media person on the island, openly stated on the program that "Ma Ying-jeou should take this opportunity to speak out all the speeches, otherwise it will be meaningless." However, Ms. Huang Zhixian, a patriotic figure of the reunification faction on the island who also went to attend the ceremony of commemorating the Yellow Emperor, could not hold back her tears many times, and she openly told the media: Our generation must bring Taiwan home!
