One of the world's finest Porsche tuning specialists, Theon Design's latest creation, named GBR003, is a special creation and the first 911 Targa to be created by Theon.
Beneath the refined carbon fibre bodywork, it is powered by an air-cooled 4.0-litre flat-six engine. This engine has 403 hp and 433 Nm of torque. The GBR003 weighs 1227 kg, which is comparable to the 991 generation 911 GT3.
This flat-six engine emits its signature roar through a custom exhaust system. In everyday driving, the exhaust system makes a more subtle sound, but once the exhaust valve is opened, the engine makes an unreserved sound. The exhaust valves can be operated manually by the driver, but they also open automatically when driving passionately.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission built to 993 RS specifications. The position of the pedals has been adjusted to make shifting easier. The lightweight flywheel sharpens the throttle response and makes the driver more agile in operation.
The braking system uses the same 993 RS braking system, which allows the GBR003 to come to a quick stop. Also excellent in corners, Theon used F1 technology to build a carbon fiber reinforcement system. The system consists of two drums made of epoxy prepreg carbon fiber and an aerospace-grade Nomex honeycomb structure.
Theon uses CAD technology to ensure that the barrels fit perfectly into the Targa's chassis. Once the barrels are made, they will be connected to the chassis and bulkhead to provide the best driving experience for owners who are keen to drive. The GBR003 is equipped with a five-stage TracIve active control electronic damping system, which makes the Targa as good as its coupé.
The carbon fibre body of the GBR003 is finished in a custom-made light blue livery, with contrasting Porsche livery on the side skirts and bumpers. The only exterior panels that aren't made of carbon fiber are the doors, which are for side impact protection.
Theon Design pays attention to every detail. As a result, the brake calipers are coloured to match the body stripes, with 18-inch Fuchs wheels and Michelin Pilot 4S tyres.
From the quad exhaust pipes to the ducktail spoiler, it shows that this is a beautiful Targa. It's hard to imagine that this was once a 964-generation 911, but it also shows that Theon is a master in the field of car tuning.
The interior of the GBR003 is also a masterpiece, blending luxurious materials with racing style. In order to keep the weight down, the interior is made of a lot of carbon fibre material, and the seats are in liquorice-coloured leather with an original Porsche Onyx Grey Pepita houndstooth. The rear seats feature bucket seats from the Porsche 928 and have a built-in subwoofer.
The GBR003 is equipped with a custom-built sound system with a Pioneer P99RS Bluetooth system that plays music through six Focal speakers and a Focal amplifier. This means that the driver can not only enjoy the roar of the engine, but also enjoy high-quality music in the car.
The Targa roof of the GBR003 has been carefully modified to ensure a perfect fit with the reinforced chassis. Now it is lined with luxurious mohair material. On sunny days, the roof can be neatly tucked away into a custom-made tote bag.
As for the price, this piece of automotive art doesn't come cheap. The starting price of the Targa is 415,000 pounds (about 3.79 million yuan), which is indeed a very expensive price. However, this is the price of a high-end modified car. And, this price does not include pre-conversion vehicles, transportation, and personalization options.
