At the event, the Guangdong Women's Federation, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, and the Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation jointly released six major actions to care for families with autistic children in difficulty (hereinafter referred to as the "six actions"). At the beginning of the year, the Guangdong Provincial Women's Federation released ten practical things about the livelihood of women and children in Guangdong in 2024, and caring for 1,000 families of children with autism is one of them. At the meeting, the Guangdong Provincial Women's Federation, the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission, and the Guangdong Provincial Disabled Persons' Federation jointly released the "Light Up the Stars, Love is Not Alone" action to care for the families of autistic children, planning to raise 10 million yuan in donations, linking 21 prefectures and cities, and working with relevant foundations and social organizations to care for 1,000 families of autistic children in need.

The "Light Up the Stars, Love is Not Alone" action to care for the families of children with autism includes six major actions, including providing financial assistance, professional guidance, rehabilitation subsidies, and psychological counseling for the families of children with autism, carrying out self-help and mutual aid activities for the families of children with autism, and providing respite services for the parents of children with autism.

In order to unite the forces of all parties to support the six major actions, so that the families of children with autism can feel the care and tolerance from all walks of life, Guangdong officially established the Family Care Alliance for Children with Autism.

As of April 1, Guangdong has raised a total of 13.393 million yuan in donations from caring enterprises and individuals, and more than 66,000 people have made donations. Together with 53 expert teams, 1,254 social organizations, caring teams, rehabilitation agencies and service organizations have become members of the Family Care Alliance for Autistic Children, and 7,282 "mother posts" that can be provided to the families of autistic children have been collected.

Become an advocate for caring for children with autism

The treatment of autism requires long-term rehabilitation training and special education support, which is a long and complex process that requires the long-term efforts of families, rehabilitation institutions, schools, communities, enterprises and other parties. At the launch event, two mothers of young people with autism shared their stories of growing up with their children.

Twenty-three years ago, after Dai Rong's 3-year-old son was diagnosed with autism, she began to learn the skills of raising autistic children, so she embarked on the road of public welfare, she said, "The natural mission of parents is to be advocates for caring for autistic children." Chen Ying, the mother of a 25-year-old autistic youth, said, "I am fortunate to have met teachers with feelings, caring parents, responsible social organizations and responsible functional departments. May more families of people with autism see hope and bravely break through. Chen Ying said.

At the same time, Zha Caihui, chief physician of the Department of Psychology of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center and vice chairman of the Psychological Assessment Professional Committee of Guangdong Mental Health Association, was invited to give a popular science on autism and rehabilitation treatment. Zha Caihui said that early detection and early intervention are the most effective means of rehabilitation treatment, and special education and training are the most important methods at present. At the same time, medication is also a very important tool in medicine.

686 themed activities to care for families of children with autism

Covering 21,903 families in Guangdong

"Light up the stars, love is not lonely" - Guangdong Province Care for Autistic Children and Families After the end of the Guangdong Province Care for Autistic Children and Families Action, Guangdong Chimelong Charity Foundation invited autistic children's families to enter Guangzhou Chimelong Wildlife World to let autistic children get close to nature.

Recently, women's federations at all levels in Guangdong Province, together with health and disabled persons' federations and other departments, have carried out a series of activities in various forms such as theatrical performances, orienteering, public welfare exhibitions, garden activities, love education assistance for autistic children, and parents' respite plans around the theme of caring for the families of autistic children in need. Up to now, the province has held a total of 686 themed activities on caring for families of children with autism, covering 21,903 families.

Guangzhou City invited Professor Zou Xiaobing, a well-known child development and behavior expert from the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, to give a special lecture, Zhongshan City carried out the "Light Up the Stars, Love is Not Alone" lighting up the blue lantern activity in the city's landmark buildings, Foshan City lit up the slogan of "Caring for Autistic Children and Families" in the whole city, Shenzhen held the "Butterfly Galaxy" interactive installation art exhibition, Zhaoqing City used the grassroots activity position to establish 10 "Star Family Respite Station", and Maoming City launched the "Yuejiahe - 10,000 Kind-hearted Sisters Talk Homely" Home visits and caring for families of children with autism, Chaozhou City launched the "Painting a Beautiful Picture Together, Love is Not Alone" art salon activity, Shaoguan City held a kick-off meeting for the children's autism screening and intervention project, and invited provincial experts to give lectures. Guangzhou will carry out pilot autism screening, diagnosis and intervention services for children aged 0-6 in Huadu and Baiyun districts, and customize personalized rehabilitation programs for them to ensure that every child with autism can receive the most suitable rehabilitation services for them. Qingyuan will carry out a public welfare project for autism screening, screening 1,500 infants and toddlers aged 18-42 months, and children diagnosed with ASD can be included in the National Disabled Persons' Federation's autistic children rescue project for rehabilitation treatment.

Six major actions to care for the families of autistic children

The first is to provide financial assistance to the families of children with autism. Organize volunteers to carry out door-to-door visits to understand the situation and needs of families, and provide them with financial and material support by raising funds and linking up with relevant public welfare funds. For families who wish to work, provide them with vocational training and employment opportunities for "mother posts", and provide families with autistic children with basic living security to the greatest extent.

The second is to provide professional guidance for families of children with autism. Establish a provincial think tank of rehabilitation experts, focusing on giving full play to the strength of autism experts, strengthening the supervision of the standardized construction of designated rehabilitation institutions, improving the capacity and level of rehabilitation services, optimizing and formulating personalized rehabilitation service plans for 1,000 autistic children, designing and developing standardized training courses for rehabilitation teachers and rehabilitation knowledge and psychological adjustment courses for parents of autistic children, and carrying out various training activities.

The third is to provide rehabilitation subsidies for children with autism. Provide home rehabilitation teaching aids and financial subsidies for 1,000 autistic children, and provide rehabilitation equipment and material support for the designated rehabilitation institutions where they are located.

The fourth is to provide psychological counseling for children with autism and their parents. Psychological counselors are hired to carry out psychological tests for autistic children and their parents, and a psychological counseling service team is set up to carry out targeted psychological counseling.

Fifth, carry out self-help and mutual aid activities for families of children with autism. Give play to the role of the provincial self-help and mutual aid rehabilitation service base, organize families of children with autism to share their rehabilitation experience, receive rehabilitation knowledge and skills training, empower parents, enhance family rehabilitation capabilities, carry out various group health activities, community integration activities, and cooperate with social organizations and caring enterprises to provide families with autistic children with aesthetic education and rehabilitation, manual activities, music therapy, sports rehabilitation and other special activities.

Sixth, provide respite services for parents of children with autism. Relying on designated rehabilitation institutions, children's homes, children's service sites, and other positions, hire relevant rehabilitation therapists, organize volunteers to help the disabled, and provide at least 1 day/month of care services for children with autism.
