I went to the Lebanese Peacekeeper Construction Engineer Detachment to complete the task of upgrading and renovating the military explosion-proof observation post

Recently, the 22nd batch of Chinese peacekeepers and construction engineers to Lebanon overcame adverse factors such as harsh climate and turbulent security situation, and completed the task of upgrading the military explosion-proof observation post of UNIFIL Headquarters with high quality and efficiency, which was highly praised by UNIFIL Command.

It has been learned that the original observation post and the surrounding fortifications have been seriously deformed by long-term rain erosion, wind and sun, and have basically lost their original protective capabilities, and there are great potential safety hazards. After receiving the task, the detachment sent a professional construction force to conduct on-site investigation, fully study and judge the safety risks, and carefully formulate the construction plan to ensure the orderly and steady progress of the construction task.

During the construction period, the construction team carried out the operation in the order of "removing the old gabion protective wall, leveling the site, building a new gabion protective wall, and hardening the foundation". Due to the narrow construction area and large slope, vehicles and machinery cannot work in close proximity, and the construction team members can only use the hand and shoulder to carry the manual operation. In order to increase the stability of the gabion protective wall, the construction team members innovatively used a variety of fixing methods such as crossing, tic-tac-toe involvement, multi-line winding, and steel bar penetration. During the construction process, the workers had to go to the beach every day to carry stones to pile up the walls and stabilize the foundation, although the workload increased, but it added an extra guarantee to the safety of the camp.

"We are not only building a project, but also building a 'Chinese brand', and every project task represents our image, and we must not be sloppy. On the battlefield of peacekeeping, which is thousands of miles away from the motherland, we will faithfully fulfill our mission, display the good image of China's blue helmets at all times, and contribute China's strength to peace and stability in the mission area. Hu Guangming, a member of the detachment, said excitedly.

After two weeks of continuous intense operations, the detachment completed its mission one week ahead of schedule, building a solid and reliable protective barrier for friendly peacekeepers. According to Cai Jinjie of the detachment, the next step will be to organize professional construction forces to inspect and repair the defense posts, observation posts, protective fences and other defense fortifications in the entire camp area, so as to further eliminate the shortcomings of the protective blind spots.

"I sincerely thank the Chinese sappers for the work done here, the project has been completed very well, and the high-quality work standards are trustworthy, thank you very much!" On the day of the acceptance of the construction end, the superb technology and excellent style of the construction engineer detachment won high praise from Haji, an engineer of the headquarters.

It has been learned that since its deployment in December last year, the detachment has given full play to its advantages in professional skills and has successively completed five annual construction tasks and 21 temporary tasks, including the upgrading and renovation of the defense facilities in the barracks and the protection project in the border barracks of UNIFIL. Excellent Chinese quality, efficient Chinese speed, and first-class Chinese standards have won high praise from UNIFIL.
