Looking at the top 10 of the NBA's all-time three-point list, there is one person who seems out of place, and compared to the glossy personal resumes of others, Korver seems so ordinary. But in the three-point field, he leads the league in two statistics. He has the highest three-point shooting percentage in the top 10 and has a career three-point shooting percentage of 42.9 percent. At the same time, he is also the player with the highest three-point shooting percentage in a single season in NBA history. In the 2009-10 season, Korver shot 53.6 percent from three-point range, surpassing Steve Kerr's 52.3 percent and topping the all-time high.
You know, Korver's value in the early days of his career was just a printer. In the 2003 draft, Korver was drafted by the Nets in the second round and was sent to the 76ers in exchange for some cash, which the Nets used to buy a printer.
As a "man who changes printers," Korver fell in love with long-range shooting when he first came into contact with basketball, often practicing shooting alone in the yard at home, and in his own words, he enjoyed listening to the crisp sound of the ball passing through the net, so he enjoyed watching Larry Bird shoot three-pointers.
In his rookie season, Korver was not taken seriously by the team and played very little minutes. Until the second grade, it was a blockbuster. Hit a league-high 226 three-pointers in a single season, and the shooting rate was as high as 40.5%, becoming one of Iverson's most reliable helpers. In the 2006-07 season, Korver ushered in the peak of his career, averaging 14.4 points per game, shooting 43% from three-point range, and reaching the peak of his personal data, truly becoming a well-known sharpshooter in the league.
The inconspicuous Korver was only selected as an All-Star once in his career. Because he was in the Eagles, he met his own Bole, then Eagles coach Budenholzer. He designed an offensive system around Korver's three-point and running positions, and the team created space for him with lots of off-ball runs and pick-and-rolls to allow Korver to fully play to his strengths. In the 2014-15 season, Korver averaged 12.1 points per game, shooting 49.2% from three-point range, and the Hawks, who were all soldiers, won 60 wins that season.
The 36-year-old Korver began to play on the championship team, and although he still shot more than 40% from three-point range, he missed out on the championship both in the Cavaliers and the Bucks.
With only one three-pointer, he has been able to establish himself in this league for 18 years, and Korver has achieved his best. And behind all of this is his day-to-day training. Korver once shared his shooting secret: there is no shortcut to becoming a marksman, it is to train consistently, develop muscle memory, and any good pitcher does not aim at the basket when he catches the ball, but makes habitual natural movements.
