Suzuki has announced a new patent for a small-displacement side-by-side twin-cylinder engine that incorporates Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology and will be used on the GSX 250 R.
VVT technology, which has long been basically common in the automotive field, is still relatively rare in the field of motorcycle production. With the investment in VVT technology, Suzuki already has experience with variable valve timing for motorcycles. Last year, we also applied for a patent for the VVT technology used in the Suzuki Hayabusa's engine. After being ashamed, the new patent of Suzuki's Hayabusa engine is outflowing, and it is expected to exceed 200 horses!
However, according to the patent documents, Suzuki's VVT engine has a displacement of 248cc, which is the same as the current GSX250R engine displacement. With the addition of VVT technology, the engine's performance is expected to be significantly improved. VVT technology adjusts the valve timing and stroke to improve the engine's torque performance not only at low revs, but also at high revs. In addition, the technology helps to reduce the engine's fuel consumption and emissions.
Suzuki has not yet indicated which models the VVT engine will be used in. But judging by the illustrations in the patent documents, it seems that this engine was specially designed for GSX250R. Therefore, it is reasonable to speculate that Suzuki may launch a new GSX250R model equipped with a VVT technology engine. The current GSX250R has a horsepower of 24.7 HP and a torque of 23.3 Nm. With the addition of VVT technology, it is expected that both power and fuel consumption will be optimized.
Will the GSX 250 R change for 10,000 years?
