On the afternoon of March 29th, "My Way with Chapters - Ten Years Exhibition of Calligraphy and Seal Carving of East China Normal University" opened in the exhibition hall on the first floor of Han Tianheng Art Museum. The exhibition is divided into ten sections, including graphic materials, published documents, calligraphy and seal carving works, brush diaries, and collection of previous exhibitions, with a total of more than 300 works and more than 100 books by more than 150 calligraphy and seal carving teachers and students.
Walking into the exhibition hall, a light and simple atmosphere comes to the face. The surrounding walls are full of calligraphy and seal carving works, some of which are magnificent, like mountains and rivers, and some are delicate and gentle, like a trickle, telling the story.
At the entrance of the exhibition hall, the works of Zhang Suo, director of the calligraphy department of the Academy of Fine Arts of East China Normal University, not only have seal carving, but also reinterpret the calligraphy and literary works of predecessors. "The teacher's seal carving skills can be called perfect, and every knife is precise and powerful. Audience Yang Lulu graduated from the seal carving major, and is now engaged in the work of seal carving teaching, "After visiting, I have gained a lot." It has inspired me to continue to improve my skills, and has also provided a reference for students to hold exhibitions in the future. ”
Seal carving is the characteristic specialty of East China Normal University, the exhibition also exhibited 48 seals, from the ancient seal, Qin seal, Han seal to birds, insects, genres, all of them have both, rich style, positive content. There are not only wonderful works from this year's "Poetry Han Wanqing - East China Normal University Girls' Self-composed Poetry and Calligraphy Exhibition", but also a pair of self-written couplets, reflecting the teaching philosophy and tradition of East China Normal University's calligraphy and seal carving major's pursuit of "good calligraphy and printing" and "good writing".
Li Hongcheng, a 2020 seal carving student of East China Normal University, made a special trip to see the exhibition. "The works on display are all by teachers and students of the same major, and many of them are old friends who have known each other for a long time. Seeing the words as faces, it is as if I have seen an old friend and reminiscing about the days of studying together. Li Hongcheng said with emotion.
"Chinese characters are the treasure of the Chinese nation and the foundation of national cultural self-confidence. In the view of Du Jiahang, vice president of the Daxia Printing Society of East China Normal University, the importance of Chinese characters is self-evident, "This exhibition is not only a concentrated display of the excellent works of teachers and students, but also an important practice for us to carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture and actively promote cultural construction and the popularization of aesthetic education." It is hoped that through such an exhibition, more people can feel the charm of calligraphy and seal carving, and appreciate the breadth and profundity of Chinese culture. ”
