On March 30, the leaders and experts of the "Banna-Guangzhou-Panyu" Science and Technology Cooperation and Academic Exchange Conference came to the Banyan Park of Dafu Mountain in Panyu District to carry out scientific research activities, and work together to build a highland for the research and application of the Banyan bee system and a scientific research forest for the Banyan species. The research team conducted research in the Ficus germplasm resources conservation area of Banyan Park in Dafu Mountain
On the morning of the same day, the research team came to the Ficus germplasm resources conservation area of Banyan Park in Dafu Mountain, Panyu District, observed the characteristics and growth of Ficus species, listened to the introduction of relevant experts on the general situation of Ficus in mainland China, and explained the relevant situation of Ficus germplasm resources conservation area in Dafu Mountain Banyan Park. Relying on the Guangzhou Academy of Forestry and Landscape Sciences as the technical support unit, the Ficus Germplasm Resources Conservation Area of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park has provided 83 species (varieties) and above of Ficus plants, making the Ficus Germplasm Resources Conservation Area of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park reach 100 species (varieties) and above, becoming the special plant display garden with the largest variety of Ficus plants in South China.

The research team came to the planting site of the ficus planted in May 2022 in Dafu Mountain Banyan Park to learn about the growth of the batch of ficus plants planted that year. In that year, the relevant leaders and guests of Guangzhou Forestry and Garden Bureau, Panyu District Government, Guangzhou Academy of Forestry and Landscape Sciences and other units jointly planted seedlings of many new ficus varieties such as black King Kong, fig, love ficus, Japanese fig, ground fruit fig, safflower gong, rich fig, heart-leaf ficus, and lili ficus cultivated by the Guangzhou Academy of Forestry and Landscape Sciences.
The research team carried out tree planting activities of ficus plants
Subsequently, the research team came to the slope of the "Fire Burning Gang" of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park to carry out the tree planting activities of the Banyan plant. We wielded shovels and shovels, straightened saplings, watered trees, and planted 60 ficus varieties such as Juguo Ficus, Hainan Ficus, and Special-shaped Ficus, creating a scientific research forest with an area of about 1,000 square meters, laying the foundation for future scientific research.
Ficus genus in the Ficus germplasm resources conservation area of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park
Since the inauguration of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park in 2022, the Municipal Forestry and Garden Bureau has guided and promoted the construction of the South China National Botanical Garden's southern ex situ conservation demonstration area system with Dafu Mountain Banyan Park as the core. Conservation and research work, strengthen cooperation with the Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, increase the varieties of banyan trees in Dafu Mountain Banyan Park, and carry out seedling collection and conservation work in multiple ways, so that Dafu Mountain Banyan has reached more than 11,200 plants of 101 species, becoming a veritable "garden of a hundred banyan trees". This year, Panyu District will continue to promote the construction of Dafu Mountain-South China National Botanical Garden South China Ex-situ Conservation Demonstration Zone, build a gene bank of Ficus with the most complete varieties of Ficus in the country, introduce more varieties and quantities of Ficus plants, explore Ficus culture, popularize the ecological knowledge of different Ficus plants, and create the city business card of Dafu Mountain Banyan Park.
