Recently, the Chevrolet brand of SAIC-GM officially announced the first intelligent plug-in hybrid SUV, named "Explorer Plus", which will be unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April. Riders familiar with Chevrolet products may find that the new car is actually the overseas version of the Equinox released in January this year.
The Explorer Plus will be available in RS and ACTIV exterior and interior variants. Externally, the new car is equipped with split headlights and a honeycomb-shaped grille, with the Activ version having a larger grille area and a blacked-out finish, while the RS version has a sportier grille.
The Activ version is more off-road, while the RS version is more focused on everyday road driving. This is because the two models have different styles of wheels and tires. Referring to the body size of the overseas version, the length, width and height are 4653/1902/1667mm, and the wheelbase is 2730mm, which is 51mm wider than the current American version of the car.
The interior is still decent, with a three-spoke steering wheel, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, and an 11.3-inch center display. Driver assistance and safety features have been upgraded, with features such as Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking with Collision Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Auto Braking, and Lane Change Alert. In terms of space, the trunk volume is 845 liters, which can be expanded to 1,799 liters if the rear seats are folded down.
It will be powered by a 1.5-liter engine + drive motor, with a maximum engine output of 127 kW and an electric motor of 140 kW. It is worth mentioning that the power battery will use BYD's lithium iron phosphate battery, which is expected to have a pure electric range of more than 100 kilometers.
