On March 26, the National Centre for the Performing Arts held a press conference on the original drama "Deng Shichang", which will be held for the first time from April 27 to May 4, 2024. It is understood that the play is another "historical figure series" created by the National Centre for the Performing Arts after the original drama "Lin Zexu", and the premiere of the play commemorates the 130th anniversary of the First Sino-Japanese Naval War and presents it to the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
The National Centre for the Performing Arts produced the original drama "Deng Shichang", which uses the story of the famous patriotic general Deng Shichang's youthful aspiration, young enlistment in the army, and middle-aged martyrdom. In order to be able to portray the heart-wrenching pain brought to the Chinese people by the glorious formation of the Beiyang Naval Division, the fiasco of the Sino-Japanese First Sino-Japanese War, and the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, it highlights the eternal warning of Deng Shichang's generous sacrifice to awaken the Chinese sons and daughters to shoulder the responsibility of rejuvenating the country.
According to Li Jin, the leader of the National Centre for the Performing Arts, "This drama is to warn the present, warn future generations, and stimulate and unite the national spirit by reviewing the heart-wrenching defeat we suffered 130 years ago, and the bloody sacrifice of national heroes such as Deng Shichang." The Grand Theatre will continue to create a series of historical figures, all of which are to use this form of art to make generations of young people remember history, be prepared for danger in times of peace, unite and struggle, and burst out with invincible spiritual power. ”
