March 24th

The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russian forces launched a large-scale attack against Ukraine, launching 29 cruise missiles and 28 drones to attack eight regions in the west, center, north and south, and air defense forces shot down 18 cruise missiles and 25 drones. [447] The head of the Kyiv City Military Administration said that about a dozen missiles were shot down in the Kyiv region with no casualties or property damage. The governor of the Lviv region said that critical infrastructure was hit by 20 missiles and seven drones. [448] [449] Ukraine's oil and gas company said its underground gas storage station in western Ukraine was hit by a Russian missile, which did not affect gas supplies. [450] The Donetsk Oblast Prosecutor's Office said at least three civilians were injured in an attack by Russian forces in Krasnohorivka, Donetsk Oblast. [451] The mayor of Kharkiv said Russia launched missile and drone strikes on the city, destroying a thermal power plant and all substations. [452]

Since the full-scale invasion, Russia has lost 436,750 soldiers in Ukraine, with 990 casualties among Russian forces over the past day, with cumulative losses of 6,876 tanks, 13,158 armored combat vehicles, 14,407 vehicles and fuel tanks, 10,855 artillery systems, 1,018 multiple launch rocket systems, 723 air defense systems, 347 aircraft, 325 helicopters, 8,510 drones, 1,992 cruise missiles, 26 ships and 1 submarine, among others. [453] Ukrainian Southern Command said Russian forces fired 234 FPV suicide drones at Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts in southern Ukraine over the past day, an increase of nearly 40%. [454]

The Office of Strategic Communications of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said that the Ukrainian army launched an attack on Russian-occupied Sevastopol on the night of the 23rd, hitting the communications center and several infrastructure facilities of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, as well as the amphibious landing ships Yamal and Azov of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. [455]

Russian state-run media "TASS" reported that the Crimean highway bridge in Russian-occupied Crimea was temporarily closed in the evening. [456]

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an evening address that Russia fired nearly 190 missiles, 140 drones and 700 aerial bombs at Ukraine last week. [457] Separately, Zelenskyy said that after communicating with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, he agreed to speed up preparations for a bilateral security agreement between the two countries. [458]

According to the Yellow Ribbon Movement, a resistance movement in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, Russian authorities forced residents of Russian-occupied areas to participate in commemoration of the terrorist attack at the Saffron City Hall, and in several Russian-occupied areas, including Gnichesk, Skadovsk, Ngodal and Melitopol, Russia forced residents to send money to "so-called accounts" of victims' families and forced residents to lay flowers at spontaneous monuments in Hainichesk and Melitopol. [459]

The Polish Air Force Operational Command said that during a large-scale attack by Russian forces against Ukraine, a missile briefly flew into Polish airspace, with radar monitoring and warplanes patrolling the entire process. [460] Subsequently, the command stated that the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command had not shot down the missiles in question, considering that the Russian missiles would re-enter Ukraine and that the shooting down of missiles in Poland might pose a risk to local civilians. [461] Poland's foreign ministry said it had summoned Russia's ambassador to Poland to explain the Russian missile violation of Polish airspace. A spokesman for the Polish Foreign Ministry called on Russia to stop its terrorist air strikes on the people and territory of Ukraine, end the war and solve Russia's internal problems. The head of Poland's National Security Agency said that the Russian cruise missile entered Polish airspace for 39 seconds, and NATO allies have been briefed on another violation of NATO borders by Russian cruise missiles.
