On the occasion of the 64th World Meteorological Day, on March 22, a series of themed publicity activities for World Meteorological Day were held at the Chongqing Museum of Natural History.
At the event site, Chongqing Meteorological Bureau, Chongqing Museum of Natural History, Beibei District Meteorological Bureau and other relevant units jointly launched the "Thousands of Meteorology, Everyone's Style - Beibei Meteorological Science and Technology Special Exhibition during the Anti-Japanese War" at the Chongqing Natural History Museum. The exhibition focuses on the glorious history of the development of meteorological science in China and the laying process of meteorological science in Beibei area.
In the morning, Dong Xinning, a research-level engineer from the Chongqing Climate Center, gave a lecture on the theme of "The Story of El Niño". Dong Xinning explained to everyone what kind of impact El Niño will have on the global climate, and what kind of trend and characteristics of the future meteorological situation will be, which narrowed the distance between meteorology and the public, and improved the public's understanding of meteorological knowledge and El Niño.
"Through this lecture, we learned about the impact of ENSO, or El Niño and La Niña, on continental climate. Zhang Tao, a student at Southwest University, told reporters that he will take the initiative to participate in climate action in the future and make every effort to protect the earth's homeland.
According to the relevant person in charge of the Chongqing Natural History Museum, in the future, the Meteorological Bureau of the United District will carry out meteorological mobile exhibition activities in schools, communities and other places, and conduct face-to-face science popularization with the public through on-site explanation, interaction and other forms, so as to strengthen people's understanding of meteorological science and meteorological services.
