At the event site, volunteers cut free clinics for the elderly and carried out mobile phone teaching.
Early in the morning, the elderly people in the jurisdiction came to the community to sit in an orderly manner and wait in line. The volunteer hairstylists patiently asked the elderly about their hairstyle requirements, and skillfully and conscientiously trimmed the hairstyles for the elderly. "The community-organized scissors allow us to get a haircut without leaving the yard, which is very convenient and fast. Mr. Chen, a resident, said.
At another booth, medical staff provided face-to-face and zero-distance medical services such as physical consultation, free blood pressure measurement, blood sugar measurement, etc., and gave health guidance according to their physical condition. The elderly people in the community who participated in the event said that the free clinic service is both intimate and convenient, and it is really a good thing for everyone.
Doctors from the dental hospital also came to the event site to popularize oral health tips such as how to brush teeth, how to choose a toothbrush, how to choose toothpaste, how to maintain toothbrushes, dentures, etc., and provide free oral examinations and treatment suggestions for residents.
During the activity, the volunteer team of the TCM Health Center used TCM testing instruments to identify the constitution and check the pulse of the elderly in the jurisdiction, and provided free TCM physiotherapy services for the elderly due to discomfort in the head, neck, shoulders, back, waist and legs.
In the mobile phone teaching booth for the elderly, there is an endless stream of elderly people who come to learn. Volunteers explained to the elderly a series of operational skills that are convenient for daily life, such as WeChat payment, online shopping, registration and payment on the hospital's official account, and using map navigation. "In the past, I had to wait for my children to come back to pick up the parcel, but now I have learned to use the express locker, which is much more convenient!" said Ms. Yu, a resident.
At the same time, the community staff also took the opportunity to promote fire protection knowledge and distribute color pages for anti-smoking activities. "I am a 20-year-old smoker, and after quitting smoking last year, my physical and mental state have improved greatly, and the anti-smoking activities are good, so I must support them!" said Mr. Zhang.
