In 1944, the Japanese troops entrenched in the Jiaodong area concentrated their forces and organized "sweeps" during the day, and at night, they cowered in their shells, relying on pillboxes, walls and other barriers, and struggled to the death.
The troops of the Jiaodong Military Region used the method of machine gun cover and people sending explosives packs to attack the pillboxes, but the enemy's condescending position, coupled with the fact that the pillboxes were surrounded by deer bars, made it difficult for our troops to destroy the fortifications built by the enemy.
Under these circumstances, Commander Xu Shiyou ordered the No. 2 Ordnance Factory to start developing anti-aircraft guns.
After receiving the order, the factory headquarters stationed in Hedong Village, Yaqian County, held an artillery making conference.
After discussing the matter for a long time, Lu Xigong, director of the factory, deputy director of the factory, instructors, director of the ammunition department, and other leading cadres unanimously agreed: Flat-firing artillery is urgently needed on the battlefield and must be developed as soon as possible.
But what does an anti-aircraft gun look like? None of the people present knew it.
At that time, the thing which could be used as a reference:
One is a photo of a less clear cannon cropped from a pictorial, and the other is a dozen or so armor-piercing shells of the "Eighty-Eight" type captured from the enemy.
As for the special equipment, raw materials, etc., used in the manufacture of anti-aircraft guns, there is no such thing at all.

But everyone was not frightened by the difficulties, and the director of the factory decided at the meeting: the mechanical engineering department will make the cannons, the ammunition department will make the shells, and the specific plans will be returned by the departments to discuss with the workers to find a way to solve it.
In the process of making ammunition, the workers first risk their lives to gently disassemble a "88" shell like a watchmaker repairing a watch, and then carefully study the structure of the shell as if it were a doctor's consultation.
Finally, come up with a fake plan.
Due to the problems of equipment and raw materials, it is impossible to achieve complete restoration, and the workers can only bother to find alternative methods.
The hard work paid off! All the workers of the factory worked together and spent more than three months to finally build the first flat-firing gun and more than a dozen shells.
After experiments, the cannon is not small.
To further prove its power, anti-aircraft guns were allowed to join it in a shortly after battle to "uproot the waterway stronghold".
Since this gun was made by the arsenal and the soldiers of the army had never used it, the arsenal selected two workers, Xu Weihan and Lin Mao, as temporary gunners.

At this moment, with the sound of the military horn, the soldiers of the Eighth Route Army rushed to the pillbox one by one like tigers predatoring.
The battle soon came to an end.
Xu Shiyou personally inspected the anti-aircraft guns
After the waterway battles, the head of the military district was more concerned with the manufacture of artillery. One day in the spring of 1945, Xu Shiyou personally came to the No. 2 Ordnance Factory to inspect the anti-aircraft artillery.
The people in the factory know more or less about Xu Shiyou. Many people know the legend of Xu, saying that he can open the bow left and right, and can also "fly the eaves and walk the wall".
After the news of Xu Shiyou's coming spread in the factory, the workers were very happy.
In the afternoon of the same day, Xu Shiyou rode a group of high-headed horses and appeared in Sujiazhuang, Yaqian County, where the ammunition department of the No. 2 Ordnance Industry Factory was located.
Xu was followed by a cavalry guard soldier, and on the left was the instructor and the deputy factory director.
As soon as Xu Shiyou arrived at the ammunition department, he went straight to the point and asked, "Cannon, what about the cannon?"
The deputy factory director replied: "Commander, the cannon is at the bottom of Nanshan." ”

When he came to the flat-firing gun, the deputy director of the factory briefly reported the performance and manufacturing of the gun to Xu Shiyou.

In the spring of 1945, our army attacked the Wandi stronghold of Zhao Baoyuan, a diehard faction of the Kuomintang. At that time, the Jiaodong Military Region Headquarters transferred the "Asan Artillery" to take the lead.
The power of the Asan cannon was sufficient, and although the enemy's fortifications were strong, they became vulnerable under its firepower.
After the obstacle was removed, the warriors rushed at the enemy with lightning speed at the sound of the horns. After 5 hours of fierce fighting, the last nest of the diehards in Jiaodong was also destroyed.
At that time, the captives said: "We believe that the city of Wandi is impregnable and infallible." I'm playing music for the New Year, who knew that you got a cannon......"
After this fight, the reputation of the Asan cannon became more and more famous!
