The aim of this report is to share some of the most important emerging technologies that could be important to UK industry in 2040 and beyond.
Looking to the future so far, we can begin discussions with partners in the innovation ecosystem about what support, if any, is needed to realize the full potential of this technology. These technologies may not be those that are currently most interested in policy or investment. They may not be the hottest topic in the R&D community. But our analysis shows that they have the potential to be economic and socially shaped.
As we read this report, we need to remember that technology has no intrinsic value on its own. It is only when they are used that the value is revealed.
