A few days ago, Ford unveiled a custom version of the Transit MS-RT that is only available in the United Kingdom. It is a commercial vehicle equipped with Ford Pro software and is sold to merchants and fleets through the Ford Pro channel. However, in terms of body design, the MS-RT version has a sense of sportiness and aggression that is not inferior to the small steel cannon, and it also pays tribute to the rally pedigree of the M-Sport to a certain extent.
This double-row cargo version of the Transit was used by the MS-RT for an all-round "facelift". First of all, the front face adopts an all-black honeycomb mesh octagonal grille, and the front bar also adopts a larger and tougher three-section air intake, with air ducts and air deflectors on both sides, and the extended C-shaped trim creates a fang-like visual effect. The middle air intake has a built-in millimeter-wave radar required for ACC, and the front lip at the bottom is also treated in the same color as the body. The opening on the side of the front bumper also points to the car's pure electric identity.
Coming to the side, the unique windowed side sliding door + closed third row of double-row box cargo is very rare in China. In addition, an additional layer of wide-body wheel arches is affixed, and a design that imitates heat dissipation openings is added. Blackened parts are essential, including but not limited to side skirts, exterior mirrors, door handles, roof antennas, and 19-inch wheels, with blue calipers visible inside. At the rear, in addition to the redesigned rear bumper, diffuser and three-sided roof spoiler, the taillight cavity and license plate frame trim have been blackened.
Inside, you'll find the MS-RT sports seats wrapped in non-animal leather and suede, and can be arranged with 1-5 seats, depending on the user's requirements, and each seat is in the MS-RT rally style. As for the power and chassis, the MS-RT didn't get many upgrades, only increasing the power of the all-electric version to 281 hp (210 kW) with a front-mounted motor.
It is worth mentioning that Ford released the Ranger MS-RT at the same time, which Ford called the "ultimate street pickup", thus corresponding to the Ranger Raptor's "ultimate off-road pickup". This sporty pickup truck was popular in the 90s, and its representative work is the GMC Syclone, which is as powerful as a supercar. And when it comes to Ford, the word "ultimate" of the Ranger MS-RT is mainly reflected in the styling.
At the front of the car, for example, the contrasting front bumper has been replaced by a sportier shape closer to the ground, with a large black trim in the middle and long air ducts on the sides. The central grille has also been replaced with a sportier honeycomb mesh gradient pattern, complemented by gloss black through-trim. The side has a lower ground clearance, and the side skirts, door handles, and exterior mirrors have been blackened, and a small rear wing has been added to the rear of the car.
The wheels have been replaced with exclusive 21-inch two-tone wheels and "widest tires ever" from the Ranger, the front shock absorbers have been stiffened, and the rear suspension has been retuned to lower the height by 1.5 inches (38 mm). At the rear, a large ducktail shape is added to the top of the tailgate, and although the bottom is a contrasting rear bumper, it is still made in the shape of a diffuser, and the tow hook and power interface are integrated.
As for the interior, the overall layout has not changed, except for the use of large areas of black leather, complemented by rich blue accents. The front seats are bucket chairs with fixed headrests and suede fibres in the back area for added friction. Although it is a pickup truck model, the Ranger MS-RT is also sold through the Ford Pro channel, and deliveries are expected to begin in the middle of this year.
