According to the data of China Unicom's smart footprint, in 2024, compared with the flow in 2023, the proportion of people traveling more than 1,000 kilometers will increase from 3.3% to 3.7%, while the proportion of short-distance travel within 200 kilometers will drop from 72% to 69%. In particular, people over 60 years old have increased the proportion of long-distance trips of more than 1,000 kilometers by 1.8 percentage points, which is the highest growth age group. Going farther and staying longer, it reflects people's high mood for the Spring Festival and their confidence and expectation for a better life.
The north-south double-span trend is becoming more and more obvious
In the choice of travel destinations, the trend of double spanning north and south during this year's Spring Festival holiday is becoming more and more obvious. Instead of choosing traditional tourist destinations, more and more families are choosing to cross the north and south to experience a very different climate from their daily lives.
According to the data of China Unicom's smart footprint, since the Spring Festival, residents of northern cities have gone south, and cities with suitable climate have been favored by northern tourists. Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Kunming, Chongqing, Sanya, Wuhan, Hangzhou and Xiamen are among the top 10 popular destinations for northern residents to visit for the Chinese New Year.
Niche destinations with ethnic minority flairs also attract tourists from the north. Compared with 2023, Dongfang City, Ding'an County, Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, Lingshui Li Autonomous County, Qionghai City, Baoting Li and Miao Autonomous County, Wuzhishan City, Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Ledong Li Autonomous County, and Danzhou City have become the top 10 destinations for the growth of long-distance travel by northern residents. Visitors enjoy the pleasant scenery while also feeling the unique cultural charm.
Tourists from the north go south to escape the cold, and tourists from the south go north to see the snow. Residents from southern cities have also embarked on journeys to the north. According to the latest data, Beijing, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Harbin, Tianjin, Shenyang, Taiyuan, Qingdao, Jinan and Shijiazhuang are among the top 10 most popular destinations for residents from the south to travel to the north.
The folk customs of the north and the south are different, but the flavor of the year is the same.
