Lingquan Temple was built in 546 A.D. by the Eastern Wei Dynasty monk Dao Ping. Master Dao has devoted his life to the promotion of Buddhism, and it is said that he has turned his fate everywhere, and finally one day he came to Nanping Village, and saw that the mountains and springs here are green, which is quite Zen, so he no longer travels around. It was here that a lot of construction was carried out, and the Lingquan Temple was built, and the incense has been burning ever since. Since Buddhism was introduced to the Central Plains in the Eastern Han Dynasty, it has been continuously integrated with the Central Plains culture, and eventually rose to become the mainstream ideology of feudal society. After Emperor Wen of Sui opened the country, he wanted to educate the people by advocating Buddhism, so in 591 A.D., he ordered Lingquan Temple to preside over Master Lingyu (disciple of Taoism) to Chang'an, and was named a national monk, (equivalent to the current chairman of the Buddhist Association), which made Lingquan Temple gain national popularity for the first time, and thus laid the foundation of "the first ancient temple in Heshuo". The status of Buddhism in the Tang Dynasty rose further, and Lingquan Temple became a sacred place for Buddhism in the north.
