Zhang Shuqian, born in 1968, Luoyang, Henan Province, is a famous contemporary calligrapher and painter, a disciple of Qi Baishi for three generations, the inheritor of the Qi School of Ink and Wash Danqing techniques, and is now a signed artist of Rong Bao Zhai, a visiting professor of Tsinghua Academy of Fine Arts, and the honorary title of China's Top 100 Calligraphers and Painters in 2015.
Art Studies
In 1989, Zhang Shuqian was recommended by a friend to worship Qi Liangchi, the son of Qi Baishi, and studied Qi School ink painting techniques with his mentor Qi Liangchi for more than 10 years, and has been learning Chinese painting with his mentor Qi Liangchi. In the late 90s, he came to Beijing, and met at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, a master of Chinese painting who was also a teacher and a friend, Mr. Lou Shibai, a disciple of Qi Baishi, began to try to paint some works combining Chinese and Western with the guidance of Lou Shibai, and wrote and painted for many years, and studied many famous painting methods, in recent years, Zhang Shuqian's calligraphy and painting works have won dozens of national awards, and have been collected by the National Museum, South Korea, Japan and more than a dozen other countries. Many of his selected works have been collected by major museums and reported by more than 50 news media, which have had a great impact and have become internationally renowned calligraphy and painting celebrities.
Over the years, Mr. Zhang Shuqian has actively participated in public welfare undertakings, and many calligraphy and painting works have been auctioned for more than one million yuan, all of which have been donated to schools in disaster-stricken areas and poverty-stricken mountainous areas in Guizhou, Yunnan, and actively promoted the construction of pension institutions in poverty-stricken areas, and has been awarded the honorary titles of "Virtue and Art Shuangxin" and "China's Top 100 Masterpieces" calligraphers and painters for many times.
