Living Buddha
When a layman was new to Buddhism, he saw someone asking for the empowerment of a living Buddha, so he said to Elder Jinghui, "Master, find a living Buddha to give me empowerment." ”
Master said, "You yourself are a living Buddha, it depends on whether you dare to take it now!"
Turn on the light
Liu Jushi invited a statue of a Bodhisattva at the circulation office of Guangji Temple and came to the small Zen temple to meet the master. Master asked, "Jushi Liu, what's the matter with you?"
Liu Jushi held the statue of the Bodhisattva and knelt down on the spot: "Please Master consecrate the statue of the Bodhisattva." The master said, "There is already light, what else do you want to open?"
Liu Jushi stood up and bowed deeply, turned around and left.

A layman asked, "What is self-nature?"
Master replied, "What is not self-nature?"
The present moment is a bodhisattva
My daughter is in elementary school and admires the TV series "The Legend of Guanyin". Once I took her to see the old monk, and my daughter said, "How good Guanyin Bodhisattva is, I will be Guanyin Bodhisattva when I grow up." ”
The old monk said, "You don't have to wait to grow up, you can be now." If you only have one bowl of rice, you give it to your parents and don't eat it yourself, and you are Guanyin Bodhisattva at the moment. ”
Equal
When the Berlin Temple was rebuilt, only the Zhaozhou Pagoda and nineteen old cypress trees remained. Living in a simple bungalow, building a public toilet, and painting "male" and "female" characters on both ends of the exterior wall.
Asked about equality. The old monk talked about the truth that everyone is equal in the face of troubles, life and death, and then said, "Difference is seen in equality, and equality is seen in difference." ”
He pointed to the toilet in front of him and said, "Men and women are equal, but you can't go wrong when you go to the toilet." If you are a man, you cannot go into the women's restroom, and if you are a woman, you cannot go into the men's restroom. There is difference in equality, and equality is seen in difference. ”
One person, one world
In 2006, I accompanied the old monk from Kunming to Dali by train. Standing on the station platform, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the city at night.
I asked, "Master, I saw the night view of Kunming at the beginning of the lanterns, what did you see?" Master said, "What we see is the world of consciousness and realization. ”

In 1994, he visited France and lasted one month. Before returning to China, the old monk gave away everything he could, including a string of opal rosaries given to him by Mr. Gengyun from Taiwan. He smiled and said, "Okay, everything you can give up is gone." ”
He admonished the public: "We should not think about what we will gain, but we should always think about what we will lose, so that we can make progress in studying Buddhism." ”
What to throw away?
He said, "Get rid of ignorance, troubles, greed and hatred." Gradually discard these, and the light that is inherent will appear. ”
Life and death Zen

"Life Zen is the Zen of life and death, and if you do a good job in life, you can get rid of life and death. ”
