In the past few days, the temperature in Wuhan has been falling. On February 2, it was rainy during the day, and the first snow of this winter fell in the evening, and the green plants on the streets were hung with rime and ice. However, under the beautiful scenery of the pink and jade masonry, many big trees have broken branches and even fallen down, and the gardeners are working hard to eliminate the danger for the public.

On the morning of February 3, a camphor tree more than 10 meters high fell at the intersection of Jianshe 5th Road in Qingshan District, and the staff of the Qingshan Landscaping Team dealt with the fallen tree in a nervous and orderly manner. Because the branches and leaves of the lodging camphor tree are covered with icicles, the overall weight is very large, so even if it is lodging, it cannot be lifted directly, and there are many wires above the area, and the whole plant is wrapped in ice, so the staff must first use a handsaw to cut off the branches, and then lift them to the truck to transport them. It takes more time to treat a tree than usual.

According to the person in charge of the garden department of Qingshan District, in this extreme weather, not only the large trees in the streets, parks and other areas are seriously broken and lodging, but also the big trees in the communities in the district. The hardest hit are mainly evergreen plants such as camphor trees, cedars, bamboo, and magnolias. The biggest difficulty in the rescue is that some areas are main roads, there are many vehicles, and some private cars in the operation area have not been moved in time, which greatly affects the progress of risk removal. Since yesterday during the day, the garden rescue team has been patrolling and eliminating danger along the road, opening a 24-hour operation mode.

The Castle Peak Garden Department reminds the public to avoid the area under the big trees as much as possible when walking, and to relocate vehicles parked outdoors to open areas as soon as possible. Due to the surge in risk clearance, the garden department has called on streets and properties to take active action to use machetes and other equipment to treat fallen trees in the community and haul them away.
